Improvisation Can Actually Work

Every part of Jack's rational mind was telling him to pull away. Telling him to stop, and to ask Kara how she knew who he was. To ask her what she was. But his body seemed to have a mind of its own, and without hesitation, he returned the kiss.

Kara's initial reason for the kiss disappeared out of her mind, and was replaced with one, overpowering thought. Holy shit.

She knew deep down, however, that she had only kissed him as a distraction, and as good as that may have turned out to be, Sam and Dean would be very suspicious if she didn't return to the table soon.

It took all of her self control to pull away, and look him in the eye.

"I'm sorry, were you about to ask me something?"

All Jack could do was look at her in shock. All words had exited his brain, and left him on his own. He was shocked at what she had done, but even more shocked by his reaction. And now, for the love of him, he couldn't remember what he was going to ask.

"I, umm... must have been nothing," was all Jack managed to sputter out, before Kara spoke again.

"Oh. Well I should probably get back to my table. Maybe I'll see you around."

As Kara walked out of the family room and back to the table where Sam and Dean were waiting, she didn't look back once. But she couldn't deny there was a bad feeling in her gut. She had just kissed a stranger so she didn't have to answer a question.

A question which she realised she could have just as easily brushed off as nothing, now that she looked at the scenario with hindsight.

Why, out of every possible thing to do, had she done that? Although it was her usual 'ace in her sleeve' for getting out of tight scenarios involving guys, Jack had been different. He seemed like he cared, like he actually had a heart. But hell, he wasn't even human. So why should she care if her actions may or may not have hurt him.

Then again, if he was as bad as the voices had said, then he was just another monster. A monster like the ones her mother had warned her about all her life.

Whether the rumours about Jack being nice and good were true or not didn't matter to Kara. Both the voices in her head and the black eyed man in her dreams told her Jack was evil, and when they agreed on something, it was not to be taken lightly.

The voices in her head never spoke of Jack without fear. They said he had enough power to wipe the universe off the map. All of earth, heaven, hell, and someplace called purgatory would be gone. And seeing as that he was the son of the archangel Lucifer himself, the voices were certain he would go Darkside and destroy everything once and for all.

The man with the black eyes spoke of Jack in a slightly different way. He said that Jack was a disgrace. A blemish in hell's perfect record. A mistake caused by Lucifer's selfish wants. A weakling turned soft by humans, and hunters at that, which meant when his pent up anger and rage boiled, it would destruct all in its path, and stop at nothing.

Destruction. Dangerous. End of everything. Nothing. Black. Evil. Bad. Unstoppable. Whenever Jacks name was mentioned, Kara usually heard these words soon after. So when he had seemed so normal, so...human in the family room, it had caught her off guard.

And she supposed this must be the cause of the bad feeling she had. The troubling thought rattling her skull:

'Maybe I've got this wrong'.
