I don't want a lot for Christmas...

The door swung open with the chime of a bell and Kara and Jack were met with the warmth of the motel lobby. Unlike the crappy motels he usually had to stay at, this one had working central heating, so Jack doubted Sam, Dean and Cas would look for him here. If they were even looking for him at all.

Kara sped up, and walked to the front desk, where a teenage boy was reading through a magazine while waiting for customers.

"Alex," she said, causing him to look up from the article he had been reading. "Unlucky. You got the Christmas Eve shift."

"Yeah, well someone had to do it." His eyes drifted across to where Jack was standing. "Who's handsome over there?"

"A friend. Jack, this is Alex. Alex, Jack. There, now we're all introduced."

"Just a friend? Sure, whatever you say," Alex shook his head in absolute mock disbelief at Kara's words.

Faint voices started to be heard from upstairs. It sounded like two people were in the middle of an argument, or like a person was having a mental breakdown. Possibly both.

"So, how can I help you?" Alex asked, ignoring the two voices that are growing louder and the footsteps that now accompany them on the steps.

"We're looking for a--" Jacks sentence got cut off as a stressed Sam and a pale looking Dean rounded the corner and came into view.

Dean came running into the foyer, regaining colour in his cheeks, and his eyes turning a brighter shade of green. He ran to Jack as fast as he could, and pulled him in to a tight hug. As if promising to protect him from everything and anything.

"Jack, thank God we found you," Dean pulled back and looked into Jack's eyes, as he tried to show him how serious he was. "Never do that again, you hear me? Don't ever run off like that."

Now that Dean had spoken, Jack could see the fear and worry hidden behind the manly toughness. He could sense that what he had done had really hurt Dean, and it made him feel terrible.

He barely had time to nod in response before he was pulled away from Dean and Sam suffocated him with a hug. The hug was much tighter than Dean's, and almost succeeded in stopping his breathing altogether.

Sam pulled away, and looked at Jack, his hands on Jack's biceps.

"I'm glad you're okay. You really had us worried there."

"I'm sorry Sam, Dean, I didn't mean to make you worry."

"Jack, you're our kid. Worrying is in the job description, okay?" Dean's words rang warmly around the room, bringing a smile to Jack's face.

He looked round the room, and then turned back to Sam and Dean. "Is Cas here too?"

Sam turned to Dean and tilted his head to the side, staring him down and making him feel bad for what he did.

"No," Dean, Dean shook his head slightly, guilt showing deep in his eyes. "We'll call for him to come here though. Let him know we found you."

Alex looked on at the scene that had unfolded before him with complete disinterest, wanting to get back to his magazine but not being allowed to due to the customers in front of him. "So, do you guys need that room or not?"

"They'll be staying with us, thanks." Sam said as Dean began to lead Jack back to their room.

When Dean and Jack were out of sight, Sam turned to see Kara sitting in one of the lounges that were in the lobby, staring outside like it held the answer to every question she had ever asked. He walked over to Kara, and sat down in the chair across from hers.

"You're welcome to stay with us as well," she looked away from the glass doors and into Sam's eyes. Seeing something in them that made her feel at home. "I mean, if you want to of course."

"Thankyou, that means a lot to me."

"Well, that's what family's for. Come on, Dean and Jack will be waiting."

Kara followed Sam out from the warmth of the lobby into the room they had booked, to find Jack and Dean deep in a discussion. A discussion which stopped the moment they entered the room.

"Dean, you should get Cas down here too. It won't be christmas without him." Sam looked at his brother sternly, trying to hide the glimmer of mischief and the teasing from Kara, but failing spectacularly.

"So, who's this Cas guy?" She asked Dean with a smirk, burying the fact that she did indeed know who he was. Castiel was an angel of the Lord, in the vessel of Jimmy Novak. "Is he your boyfriend or something?"

Dean's face flushed. "No, nothing like that. He's just a great friend. He's like family to me. To us. He's like family to us."

"Yeah Dean, nice one," Sam bickered. "Just get him down here. We all know he answers your prayers."

Dean rolled his eyes, and flipped off his brother before closing them and beginning to speak.

"I pray to Castiel who may be running his ass away from me, and I want you to know something. I don't want a lot for Christmas, in fact, there is just one thing I need. And it's not presents, or a goddamned tree. I don't want to be alone, more than you could ever know, so make my wish come true, all I want for Christmas is..."

Sam held his breath, Finally, he thought Finally my ship will sail. Just say it Dean. Say the last word.

Dean let out a deep sigh. "All I want for Christmas is some goddamned apple pie with my family. So get your feathered ass down here in time for Christmas. Oh, and we found Jack."
