Blaine swore he could hear his heart beating as he walked out of the school grounds. Kurt still hadn't replied to his text and he was starting to get nervous. Maybe Kurt was ignoring him? Or ghosting him?
Before his thoughts could overtake him anymore, Blaine placed in his earphones. Music was like his own safe world, where no one could harm him. He pressed shuffle and let his playlist go on.
Well I thought I knew you, thinkin' that you were true
Guess I, I couldn't trust called your bluff time is up
'Cause I've had enough
You were there by my side, always down for the ride
But your joy ride just came down in flames cause your greed sold me out in shameAfter all of the stealing and cheating you probably think that
I hold resentment for you
But uh uh, oh no, you're wrong
'Cause if it wasn't for all that you tried to do, I wouldn't know
Just how capable I am to pull through
So I want to say thank you
Cause it'Cause it makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
It makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter
Made me learn a little bit faster
Made my skin a little bit thicker
Makes me that much smarter
So thanks for making me a fighterBlaine grabbed his medium drip from the cafe and sat down and waited. And waited. Until he heard the noise of a bell chiming, signalling that the door had been opened.
His eyes sprinted towards the entrance, just to see him. In all of his porcelain glory, there he stood. Kurt.
He called Kurt over once he had gotten his drink. They sat in a comfortable but ever so slightly awkward silence until Blaine finally spoke up to him.
"So. Umm, I wanted to speak to you about something. It's kinda weird, but what ever."
"Don't say that, I'm sure it's fine! Go on, tell!"
"Umm, what are we?"
Kurt's mouth shut instantly. He was clearly deep in thought.
"Blaine, I don't want you to get hurt because of me."
"Same. But trust me, I've already been hurt enough. I promise i'll try and stay away from you in school. "
Kurt looked down guilty. He didn't want his relationship with Blaine to be like this. But it meant commiting social suicide if he was out with it.
"We could try it. But keep it on the down low."
"Try what?"
"Ya know. Us?"
Blaine comtemplated for a moment.
"I'd like that. Really."
"Well, how about this. Breadstix. 7pm this Saturday. Pick me up?"
"Did you, Kurt Hummel, just ask out the nerdy unpopular Blaine Anderson?" Blaine laughed.
"Maybe I did." With this, Kurt strutted out of The Lima Bean, hips swaying with his scarf fluttering in the wind. Blaine couldn't hold back the grin that was playing on his lips.
However, the more he thought about it, the more nervous he got. What if Kurt really started to hate him? Or if he just felt sympathy and pity for Blaine and that's the only reason he mentioned it?
And then the worst realisation came upon him.
What if someone saw them?
Today was the only day that anyone saw Blaine and Kurt act like friends. The other times people just assumed Kurt was a really friendly tour guide. But Blaine meant it when he said he would stay away from Kurt. He even thought about joining the glee club.
There was no way that Kurt would even step near the choir room. It was Blaine's safest bet.
Ya know, commit social suicide for like the 4th time that year.
Well, he had heard about some people already who went to Glee club. Quinn Fabray and Santana Lopez, Kurt's best friends. Finn Hudson, Noah Puckerman and Sam Evans, who all played football. And Artie Abrams, he only knew him because he rolled over his toe 7 times during home economics.
So there was a small chance that Blaine wouldn't be the biggest loser in that club. But there was no way it was going to make him anymore popular.
Blaine hadn't realised that it was already 5:30, so he quickly texted Cooper asking him to pick him up.
When Cooper pulled up outside the small coffee shop, he noticed the large smile plastered onto his younger brother's face.
"Hey squirt! School go well I'm guessing? Mentioned me to Miss Holliday yet?" Cooper said whilst viciously pointing at his younger brother.
"Yeah, it was amazing. And for last time, just come to school and meet her. Once she finds out you're an actor she'll be in your arms."
"Thanks Squirt!"
Blaine fastened his seatbelt and turned up the radio. At first it had started out with humming, but after about 5 minutes, him and Cooper were belting out the songs.
But you didn't have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing
And I don't even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger and that feels so rough
No, you didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records and then change your number
I guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know
Now you're just somebody that I used to know
Now you're just somebody that I used to knowBlaine went to bed that night and thought about everything that gad happened that. And for the first time in what seemed like forever, he was actually excited for school tomorrow.
