Chapter 13

  "Blaze! Goddess, you've been up here since three this morning, why are you still not done? It's damn near noon. Josiah is here to help, you know. He's the Delta, he specializes in paperwork. Why is he not here?" Michael complains loudly, marching in to the office with an annoyed look on his aging face.

I glance up to him lazily, placing said files back on to the desk as I sit back slowly. Stretching out my tense and tired muscles I release a short sigh, "Sage and Papa got two thirds of it done Uncle Mike, there's less than a hundred files left. It's fine." I announce carelessly gaining an exaggerated sigh from him, " and about Josiah, the kid came in earlier, helped a bit but he was so bouncy and energetic. So I sent him outside to go help Nicholas Jr. with training so he could use some of that energy. I figured it would tire him out."

"When did you do that?" Michael asks curiously

<Hey Alpha Blaze, Josiah passed out.> NJ's blank, low voice floods through the pack link.

That kid, Goddess only knows what I'm going to do with him. Today is his first official day as Delta with out his father Kody and he passes out. Groaning softly I drag my rough hands down my face before pushing myself away from the desk.

<I'm on the way, Nicholas. Make sure he isn't directly in the sun then continue on with training per usual, I'll grab him.> I answer tiredly receiving a yes Alpha before closing the link.

"Where do you think you're going mister? You have work to do." Uncle Mike states sassily, hands on his hips as he stands Impatiently waiting for an answer.

A small growl rolls from my lips at the disrespect he's giving and almost immediately he stiffens from the sound of it. His eyes shooting straight to the ground in a sign of submission.

"Michael. I love you as my Uncle. Respect is given to you for your title as such but you are also my Beta and a member of my pack. My choices are meant to be respected and not questioned unless they disregard the health and the good of our pack. I do not answer to you but I will tell you right now Josiah is passed out on the training grounds in the heat. Nicholas has informed me of it so I will go collect my Delta and take him to Jack and Sullivan to make sure he is alright." Keeping my Alpha voice under control was a tough thing to do especially when Zeus was pushing to put Michael in his place, but I wasn't trying to put on a show of dominance.

Michael nods his head silently in understanding.

"If you would like to help, you can do a few of the papers. I'm going to take a little break so I'll be back later tonight." Walking out of the office I take this time as I make my way through the house to think silently to myself.

The past six years have the best in my entire life. With my siblings and I being twenty-four now, we're in the prime of our life. I'm so blessed to know that our life has a happy ending.

Five years ago our parents handed the title down to us. It was such a nerve wrecking experience but I have never been so happy seeing my brothers kneeling beside me. I remember the day as if it were last week, I was filled with pride knowing that I, alongside my mates, will lead my pack greatly. It was amazing because I had proven to the pack that I had changed and I have. I don't have my angry out burst that often if at all, it's a great feeling when I get friendly greetings from my pack instead of everyone avoiding me. I learned how to cope with my paranoia and my separation anxiety. It took a lot of work from both my part and my family's but we worked through it and now we're closer than ever. Especially since I'm a lot calmer when Rhiver or Sage leave to go visit their friends, of course I still have worries but I don't try to dominate them into staying. 

   Not to long after the handing down of the titles we had to have an introduction ceremony for two new pack members. Adam Frost and his mate Johnny. Adam left his pack after he discovered what his older brother had done to Rhiver. He decided that he couldn't be in a pack that repeatedly hurt his best friend. He asked to join our pack and of course I couldn't deny him and the man that saved my mate. At that time Adam was half way through his pregnancy so we had to act fast.
