    It was really cold.

  Freezing.

The light and outside world were completely hidden from me as the shadows writhed and wrapped around my body. It felt as if I was drowning within thick mud, my breath stolen from me as the shadows hissed angrily and squeezed my aching body.My eyes were screwed shut my hands balled in to tight fists as I tried to summon a ball of light. The shadows hissed louder before claws sank in to my sides. I cried out in pain as my body instinctively curled in on itself but I tried to push the stabbing pain out of my mind.

"We will not fall. We are indestructible." They screeched in to my pounding head, their voices shrill screams that clawed at my eardrums.

Everything was starting to blur, the feeling in my body becoming numb. I tried so hard to focus on my fists, to the point all of my energy in to my hands. A prominent throb started up un the back of my head but it seemed to help with my powers making all of the shadows all disperse with a pig like squeal. I brought my hands up to my face studying the pure white light that illuminated from my palms brightly. The goddess released a loud sigh of relief and quickly made her way over to me from her position where she had a big group of shadows pinned with a light beam.

"Rhiver I need your help, quickly. I'm going to open a portal and I need your help to put in your extra light. The more light energy we have the weaker they will grow. You have to pour everything you can in to your palms before transporting it in to the opening. Start now, it will take me a moment to open the portal." She nodded her head before taking a step away from me while rubbing her hands together slowly her eyes shut in focus, "Whatever you do, do not lose focus on the light. You are running low on energy already and if you drop it once it can take you days to build it back up."

I drew in a shaky deep breath as I eyed the swirling tornado of ravage shadows and my hands burned a little at the thought of putting so much power in to them but I had to do this. My eyes shut quickly as I visualized my energy as liquid and began to move it in the direction of my hands. As my energy began to move up through my body a burning pain cut across the back of my legs that had my eyes snapping open with a shout but it was cut off when my eyes caught sight of two glowing red eyes glaring at me hatefully. My breath stalled when a mouth full of razor sharp teeth opened in to an evil smile.

"RhIveR." I shut my eyes in an attempt to block out that horrifying image. Dear goddess above please don't let me die. My hair was being tousled  about from the wind that came from the screeching shadows, my ears throbbing from the loud orchestra of sounds.

I mentally shook my head and put all of my attention back in to my palms. I needed to block everything out in order to do this, I thought as a feeling of desperation fell over me.

"DoN'T ignOre mE, RhiVer." A terrified sob slipped passed my clenched lips my body beginning to feel heavy and tired as the energy moved to my burning palms that were glowing brightly. A slimey shadow began to wrap around my torso and I had to bite my tongue in order to a stop a disgusted gag.

"Ignore it, hunny! The portal is ready I need you to get closer, Rhiver! Come put the light in here, hurry." My arms were shaking from the overwhelming heat and the amount of power that was settled in my arms but I lifted my foot and began in the direction of the goddess' warm voice.

"Selene, are you really staking this planets survival on this burden?" I continued to shuffle my way blindly toward the voice of the goddess, my heart beating so hard that my ribs felt bruised. I did not want to look at whatever that thing is that continued to squirm against me.

"Scotus? Are you serious?! Rhiver come on hun, I need you to open your eyes and hurry over here!" The obvious panic in Luna's voice had my breathing speeding up times ten. With my lungs burning from my terrified panting I pried my eyes open with great reluctance and rushed over to the goddess who was surrounded by darkness. I felt like I did all those years ago, trying to find the light in my times of darkness this was a literally representation and it filled me with anxiety.
