Silence

You say that you should hold your tongue

You said it's not your choice, not your life

But you made your opinion clear by your silence.

you made your statement by not saying anything at all.

You took a vow one day, you took his hand but before that you made a vow to us

That you would teach us, protect us, be a friend to us

You saw what he did every day, you saw how he acted

Yet you never said anything, you broke your vow to us by keeping your vow to him. You kept your broken vow and your vow of silence.

Your silence has always spoken more to your anger than your words.

That day I knew you were livid for a reason you'd never tell me

You made me a detective, you made me learn your moods and to read between the lines

You made me learn what I'd done and what had been done to me. You listened to his words and took them as fact.

You kept your silence until you decided it was time to decide my fate and since then you've kept your distance and deepened the silence between us.

I knew you once, you were a friend to me and I loved you then.

then you showed me the pain of your disappointment, the pain of your silence.

You made me a liar, you made me a mouse. You made me everything I hate about myself

And still you don't answer for what you've done. You keep your silence.

You were once a bright light in my life, the only angel I knew.

You kept me from the world, and once I tried to find it you locked me away.

You lost your wings of light to forge the bars of my cold, quiet cell.

You became my jailer and a shadow, made of the dark and the silence.

You became a myth, an unknowable creature to fear

Your hands were always around my throat, keeping me from speaking

Your words were always in my ears, keeping me from hearing,

And your commands bound my feet to the ground keeping me from moving.

And your silence dug a grave for the trust I once placed in you.

I will keep the peace, as I've always done

I will keep my promises, as I've always done

I will stay loyal to you, as I've always done

And I know you will keep your silence, as you've always done
