The first thing in the morning that Sebastian did was get dress and head straight to the hospital. Checking in with one of the nurses, he headed up stairs and entered Adrien’s room. Sunlight was blocked out by the curtains and Agnés sat that the table, cradling his right arm. A fresh stream of tears rolled down his face.

Sebastian was bewilder. He had never seen him cry. He’d seen him scared, but never crying. “Are you. . . crying?”

Agnés slightly turned his head. “Am I not allowed to cry? Am I supposed to play the man who’s alway calm and collective?”

He shook his head no as he went over to the vampire’s side and gazed down at his arm. A good portion of fibers were missing, making his forearm unnaturally skinny and uneven with his bicep. The dark purple and indigo colors that pulsed through those black fibers had stopped pulsing and instead, slowly flowed through ever fiber like a stream of lights. “What happened?”

“Courtesy of your father.” Agnés replied dryly, drying his tears. “Sit down, Sebastian. I have a tale you need to hear.”

So Sebastian sat and listened intently as the ancient vampire spoke. Every word made his heart grow cold. So now his father was showing his true colors and would do anything to get Adrien. His fist tightened at the news about Collin.

“So you’re going to be okay then?” He asked when the story was over.

Agnés nodded. “Yes. It hurts, but it will heal in time. You should be more concern about Adrien’s father now that he’s a vampire.”

Sebastian gazed over at Adrien, finding the boy awake. The redhead’s eyes were filled with fear. So his father became one of those creatures. With that kind of power, Adrien had no hope in getting away now.

He was doomed. He was a fool to even think he could get away.

Sebastian stood and brought the chair to the side of the bed and sat down. “It’ll be alright Adrien.” He gently touched the boy’s hand. “I won’t let him hurt you.”

Adrien sat up and hugged his neck. “He’s going to kill me.”

Sebastian returned the gesture. “I won’t let him do so, Adrien. I’ll protect you. I promise.”

Agnés turned his attention to the door. “A nurse is coming.”

The two pulled away as the nurse came in. She jotted down Adrien’s condition on the clipboard and gave him a smile. “Well, Mr. Horn. It looks like you’re doing well. I’ll give you a check up to make sure then we’ll have you out of here soon. K?”

Adrien nodded and laid back down as she checked his blood pressure and heart rate. The two vampire’s stood and gather Adrien’s things then waited by the door. The nurse handing the redhead his clothes then left the room with the two vampires.

“You will be taking him home?” The nurse asked Sebastian.

“Yes. He is living with me at the moment.”

“Are you a relative or legal guardian.”

“No, I am not. But I am a friend of the Horn Family and under certain circumstances, his parents have allowed Adrien to stay with me. Is this a problem? I’ll be more than happy to answer any questions and sign any papers needing to be sign.”

The nurse raised a brow. “A friend of the family? Sir, I’m going to need a parent, relative, or legal guardian to sign his release form.”

“You don’t believe me?” Sebastian asked.

“Sir, someone of that boy’s family needs to be here to sign the release papers confirming that he was here for treatment. Not a ‘friend’ of the family.”
