The rain tapped against the window. It was the perfect weather for the gloomy mood Sebastian was in. He sat in one of the guest rooms were he had put Adrien to bed. For most of the night he watched over the boy, listening and watching him as nightmares took over his dreams. If Sebastian had to guess, he’d say that someone was hurting Adrien in his dreams but he wouldn’t know who for Adrien never called out their name.

He gazed out the window. At least he wouldn’t have to water his flowers today but most were dying so he would have to make time this week to pull them out.

Movement and a soft groan brought his attention towards the bed. Adrien slowly sat up, his mind pounding like a drum being played with bricks.

“Welcome to the world of alcohol kid,” Sebastian said softly so he wouldn’t make the boy’s headache worst. “The buzz makes you feel like heaven; the hangover makes you feel like hell. I put a glass of water and Tylenol on the nightstand next to you. It should help.”

Adrien groan and reached over and popped the pill in his mouth and took a gulp of water. He glanced back over at Mr. Belmont. “Where am I?”

“At my mansion. You got yourself drunk so it was best to just let you sleep here. Adrien, your father is in the hospital.”

Adrien blinked, “What? What happened?”

Sebastian leaned back in the arm chair and rested his hands on his stomach, “He was poisoned. So, you want to tell me why you decided to poison your father?”

Adrien gave him a blank look, “What the hell are you talking about?”

“Don’t act innocent. It doesn’t take a genius to figure it out. Why else would you suddenly be kind and offer to help me take the wine up to my study? And the moment I’m gone, you take the chance and take the glasses upstairs and it just so happens that your father is the only one who’s poisoned. Why is that Adrien?”

“I didn’t do anything.”

Sebastian stood, “Don’t start with me kid. Why did you poisoned your father?”

Adrien slipped out of bed. The room swirled a little but it settled after a moment. “I didn’t do anything, you can’t prove it. There’s no evidence.”

Sebastian put a hand on his hip. “Really? If anyone was trying to poison the wine, they would’ve either put poison in both glasses or take the chance that your father would pick the poisoned one and risk poisoning my father. You were the last one near the wine before your father collapsed. That’s enough proof for me, but I want to know why you did it.”

Adrien gently bit his tongue. The man was smart but that didn’t matter, the monster was dead. “I didn’t do anything.”

Sebastian looked at him for a while then headed towards the door, knowing that he wouldn’t get an explanation.“If you ever want to change out of your tuxedo, there are spare clothes in the closet.” His hand touched the doorknob just as he cell phone went off. He answered it and Adrien waited with anticipation for the news he wanted to hear.

With a few nods and ‘yeses’, Sebastian hung up with a smile on his face.

Why the hell was he smiling?

“Good news,” said Sebastian. “Your father is alive.”

Shit.

Mr. Belmont opened the door, “He’ll come pick you up when he’s discharged from the hospital.”

A dagger came thrusting in and caused the whole world shattered into pieces. He. . . .he survived? Adrien watched as Sebastian closed the door then dropped to his knees, banging his fist against the carpet. No, no, no, no! It wasn’t supposed to be like this!
