A blood-chilling wind blew through the intersection. Sirens filled the air, hurrying to the scene. An exasperated vampire stood over a wounded and dying boy, his blood boiling and his heart freezing over, making it ice cold. Three vampire hunters slowly tried to make a retreat.

But Sebastian would not allow it. Not now, not ever.

He lunged forward toward Neville and jumped, flipping over him. In mid-air he grabbed the hunter’s arm, and when he landed, the shoulder dislocated. The man went down with a yelp, but Sebastian wasn’t done with him yet. He brought the hunter to his feet the dragged his fingernails down over his face, clawing into his eyes and skin and rivers of blood suddenly down his face. Fangs sank into the hunt’s neck, draining him of strength.

Then with a final punch, he sent Neville flying. The vampire hunter flew through the air and crashed right through the semi-truck windshield.

The next target was Zachary, who was came in running to save his brother. Sebastian zoomed around him, twisted and dislocating both of his elbows. He then stood in front of the hunter and with a quick roundhouse kick, he rendered the man conscious.

Lucian took the time while the vampire dealt with his brothers to escape. Sprinting down the road, he turned into an alleyway. He stopped to catch his breath. No one told him that a pureblood would be this quick. With his speed, Lucian’s brothers barely had time to defend themselves.

He pulled out a sliver dagger. That damn vampire was in sunlight and infected by silver, so how the hell was he not starting to be weakened by it? Then that boy.

That kid had thrown himself to protect that vampire and in response, Belmont had acted as if he was watching a friend die.

A friend? No, that monster’s response was more than just watching a friend die. The concern in his voice, that fear in his eyes, it had to be impossible but. . .Did that monster actually care about that kid?

“Think you can run away?” A voice echoed off the walls followed with a laugh. “How amusing.”

Lucian looked up and searched the alleyway. No one was in sight but he knew the vampire was there, somewhere.

“So much for being the best huh?” Sebastian voice chimed through the air, “Taking on a pureblood is different from a regular vampire, isn’t it? It’s also wise not to anger us, has anyone told you that?”

Lucian back up into the brick wall. A piece of paper flew in the wind that came down from right hand entryway. The sound of car horns and sirens screaming by. He readied his silver dagger.

“It’s the hunter’s job to protect the human race from us, am I correct?”

Lucian gritted his teeth. “Come out, you lowlife snake.”

“Come out? But I want to talk.” Sebastian said in a fake innocent voice. “That boy that you just harmed happens to be a friend of mine. Though it is hard to distinguish an actual relationship set between us at the moment considering the circumstances. I should slowy drink you dry for hurting him.”

“Relationship. You actually cared about that boy? You sick bastard!”

“You are the bastard.” Sebastian corrected in mono tone. “That boy is a shatter soul broken by his father, I’m trying to help him and you tried to tear me out of his life. Now he is suffering—”

“Because he protected you! What mind trickery have you placed upon that boy?”

Something in the air lashed at him, like sharp claws scraping against his face, leaving a long cut on his cheek. The air was still and fine black mist swirled down into the shadow of a dumpster. “Trickery? That boy protected me on his own free will. I owe him my life now.” Sebastian reemerged right in front of the hunter, his fist catching wind.
