I can't wait to finally get home to spend the day with my boyfriend Ryan. I was already tapping my feed exciting on the floor, knowing he'll be here any minute.
I worked at a cafe in the middle of the city. Not many people were here, just a small family, a couple and a few friends drinking some hot chocolate before driving home again to spend the Christmas day together.
It was such a beautiful atmosphere. That's what I loved so much about the job here. You saw people talking and laughing with each other. Just having fun. I liked people in general, so I couldn't think of a better job so far.
"What are you doing today on Christmas day?", Spencer asked next to me.
"I'm waiting for ryan to come here and then we'll both drive home to his family and have a merry little christmas day", I answered, smiling.
"You two are really madly in love aren't you?", Spencer asked chuckling.
"How couldn't I be? He is the most perfect human being on this entire world! How couldn't I love him", I said, looking at the ground, sunken in my dreams.
Spencer let out a small laugh and turned his attention to the group of friends ordering 5 cups of coffee.
Then I heard the small bell at the door I was waiting for the whole day. A feeling of relieve rushed through my body when I saw my boyfriend stepping into the cafe with a bouquet of roses in his hand.
"Ryan, babe!", I said, already making my way to the elder boy.
His cheeks were red from the cold outside and he wore one of his best coats. Ryan knew that I loved it when he wore it.
Ryan gave me a small peck on my cheek, turning it red, before handing me the bouquet.
"Thanks, ry!", I said, hugging him tight, "I was waiting for you all day!"
"Me too", he said, "when's your shift over?"
"In half an hour", I answered, looking at my watch.
"Great, I'll wait here", he mumbled, taking off his coat.
"Do you want to eat or drink something?", I asked him, but he just shook his head.
"Really? No tea, no coffee?", I asked again.
"Ok, maybe a cup of hot chocolate", he answered, causing me to nod at him.
I made the hot chocolate and gave Ryan the cup of the hot, brown liquor in it.
"Thanks, babe", he said, taking a sip.
I looked outside the window, just to notice that it started snowing heavily. The whole streets were already covered in a thick carpet of snow.
"Oh deer", Spencer said, "I don't think you guys are able to get home today"
"Why?"
"Haven't you looked outside? It's nearly impossible to get through this snow storm", he responded.
"Maybe if we start driving now", I said, walking to the door, to take a closer look outside. And unfortunately I think Spencer was right.
The cars were standing still and people were rushing into buildings to keep them safe.
"Oh shit", I cursed out loud.
"What is it?", Ryan asked behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist.
"Look at the snow, we won't be able to get to your family, this is too much snow, Ryan", I sighed out loud.
"Does this mean were stuck in this café on Christmas?", Ryan asked.
"Well, we are until the snow storm ends", I answered, causing him to sigh.
"Hello, may I ask for your attention?", Spencer loudly asked, causing the crowd to continue talking.
"Uhm, hello!", Spencer tried it louder, but everyone still kept on talking.
"COULD YOU PLEASE BE SILENT FOR GODS SAKE!?", Spencer yelled, causing the people to finally shut up.
"Thanks", he said, smiling again, "Well, as you can see, there's a snow storm outside and we are litarally stuck here, please be patient and wait with us for the snow storm to end. Thanks for listening."
The people started to groan and argue immediatly.
"HEY!", Spencer yelled, "I know that this isn't something to be happy about, but it would be better if we all could be quiet and just calm down, so we all can still enjoy this Christmas day!"
Most people stopped talking and we're just sighing. Even I let out a small sigh out of frustration, causing Ryan to wrap his arms around my body.
"I think this is going to be a good Christmas", Ryan mumbled, hugging me tight, "I mean we got hot chocolate, music and a small Christmas tree in this café and I'm here with you."
I smiled, hearing Ryan's words and turned around to face him.
"So maybe we can all drink hot chocolate and I think we have a few blankets in the back of the cafe, I'll go and bring them here", Spencer said, before disappearing into a different room.
I took Ryan's hand and we booth sat down on a couch and cuddled, like most of the people here did, because it was starting to become cold.
Spencer came back with a few cosy blankets in his arms which he gave groups of people. He also gave a red one to me and Ryan which we pulled over us.
Then he turned on the Christmas music and everyone in this room was cuddled up in a cosy blanket with the people they love, drinking hot chocolate and singing to Christmas songs.
"Merry little christmas, Ry", I whispered to Ryan, kissing his cheek.
"Merry little christmas, bren."
