Your visits to both the fair and the comic book store had gone by smoothly -- you'd even purchased a volume of your favourite series and received a plushie from Garnet, who'd won one for everyone due to her impressive, if not fearful skills on a rhythm game. You'd placed those items inside the van before heading off to your last location, agreeing it was good to have your hands free for when exploring the hills.
Relaxed and at ease, your shoulders slumped and you were able to take in a long, calming breath, inhaling the prominent scent of grass and hearing the trees rustle with the wind.
"This day has been wonderful! Hasn't it?" Pearl was the first to speak, joy present in her tone as she reached the top of the small hill.
While Steven formed some conversation with her -- being the second one to reach the hill -- others were still catching up to them. It was clear the Crystal Gems were more physically adept when it came to this type of activity, as you and Greg were the last ones to reach it, being almost out of breath and near passing out from exhaustion.
"You guys never fail to surprise me." Greg chuckled, passing a hand through his hair as beads of sweat went down his forehead.
Aware you could be in a similar state yourself, you wiped your forehead with the back of your hand and proceeded to open the water bottle you'd carried with you when leaving the cafe.
Though it was now lukewarm, it was still refreshing all the same and you gulped down half of its contents with a few long, greedy gulps. Greg had a water bottle himself, though he seemed to be having trouble opening it with how shaky his hands had become -- most likely product of the energy he'd exerted in order to reach the hill.
You were about to help him with it when Garnet intervened, opening it with little to no effort and handing it over to him with a stoic look on her face.
"C'mon, guys!" Steven exclaimed, gesturing for everyone to join him close to the edge of the hill.
Brief panic surged within you when having to walk close to the edge, heights often tending to make you go dizzy.
"Pretty cool view, huh?" Amethyst spoke, breaking you away from your frozen state as you faced with her, sending a weak, nervous smile to her direction.
"Yeah," you replied, nodding. "It looks beautiful."
Noticing the rigid posture you held while saying those words, she raised an eyebrow, a small smile tugging at her mouth.
Without a word, she placed a hand over your shoulder, the other resting on her hip as she joined you in gazing at the brand new landscape unveiling itself before your eyes. The clouds were closer now and the light, evening sun rays shone over you, a hint of warmth emanating from them. The road you'd taken to arrive at the hotel was present to your sight, as well as the parking lot and the lake located close to it.
You were looking at the world through an entirely new perspective.

Nighttime finally arrived, the exhaustion from the long day reaching your body the minute you threw yourself on the bed.
You'd just left the shower and were now snuggled in bed, Amethyst having gone over to watch a TV series with Steven while you were done. You were left alone to your thoughts, the first one to make you overthink being the talk you wanted to have with the Gem you were temporarily sharing a hotel room with.
You had three opportunities to talk with her -- today, tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow.
Even so, you wanted to get this over with as soon as possible to avoid missing the opportunity.
"Hey."
No more than ten minutes into your overthinking passed when the one in question spoke up, her voice snapping you away from those thoughts.
Looking towards the direction of the noise, you saw her standing by the open door, her body leaning against the frame as she looked at you with a smile.
"Penny for your thoughts, (Y/n)?"
