The first day of your vacation greeted you by the sound of people bursting in and out of their rooms, laughter and the sound of children playing together filling in on the silence you experienced at night.
Most days, you would most likely groan and hide your face away under the covers, wanting to obtain at least a five more minutes of sleep. Now, however, you jumped right out of bed, glancing a quick look at the hour on your phone.
9 a.m.
Placing it back on the night table, you rushed off to the bathroom, knocking two times to make sure nobody was there first before entering it.
“(Y/n)?”
Not more than a few minutes passed with you locking yourself inside the bathroom when you heard that call, recognizing it as Amethyst’s voice.
“Yeah?” You asked, once spitting the residue product of brushing your teeth into the sink, wiping your mouth with a napkin and picking up some soap and a towel from the rack.
“I’m gonna go see what the others are up to while you’re done,” she explained, the sound of keys chiming in the background and landing on a hard surface filling your ears. “I’m leavin’ the keys by the kitchen counter in case you’re done before I’m back.”
“Got it,” you replied. “I’ll see you later, then!”
The sound of a door shutting was the last thing you heard after your brief exchange came to an end. Silence was quick to follow, and you found yourself sinking deep into your thoughts – these mostly centered on the experience you were presently going through and the anxieties that involved not knowing what your university would assign to you while you were away.

It took you no more than thirty minutes to fully ready yourself for the outing with Steven, Greg, and the Crystal Gems.
You couldn’t deny the feeling of self-consciousness when it came to the final result, despite of how at ease you felt with everyone’s company and friendly nature. Everything about this three-day trip caused for anticipation to settle over you and make your anxiety rise on multiple levels.
Even so, you were happy and more than grateful for this opportunity – more so now that you were able to book a room alongside Amethyst.
The incident at your home was one you desired to surface again, seeing as you didn’t want for her to keep on hiding her worries away from everyone nor to go off on dangerous missions by herself. Rather, you wanted to help her out – and you found this was a good opportunity to do just that.
Once today’s trip came to an end, you were going to make subtle comments on that topic, hoping that would allow her to open up a little more with you.
“You’re here!” Amethyst exclaimed, bringing you out of your thoughts.
She’d spotted you in the middle of the hallway separating the rooms, shortly after you closing the door of your shared hotel room.
Behind the purple Gem stood Pearl and Garnet while Steven and his father were in a corner of the room, sharing some snacks and engaging themselves by talking about the things they’d planned out for today.
“Ready to go?” She asked, an enthusiastic grin on her face.
“Ready to go.” You smiled at her, hoisting up the small messenger bag you’d brought with you, centering your attention at the two other Gems, who’d waved at you.
