The second day of your vacation awakened you with the scent of baked pastries and fruit.
With a groan and a less than enthusiastic stretch, you began to wiggle out of bed, the failed task of speaking with Amethyst yesterday being the main factor to dampen your mood.
You’d failed bringing up the subject even though she’d asked you what was going through your mind, and the fact that you’d blurted out the most incoherent sentence you came up with made you want to stuff your face in a pillow and scream into it.
“I’m just worried about my pet rat.”
Those had been the exact words you’d used to respond to her question.
You didn’t even have a pet rat -- or any kind of pet for that matter.
“Ready to kick off the day?” Amethyst asked, bringing you out of your thoughts.
She’d arrived in front of you with a half-eaten plate of bagels and strawberries, gesturing with it towards you.
“There’s a plate for you waitin’ on the dining table,” she explained. “Figured you’d wanna eat something before we go on our second trip.”
You nodded to her words, a small smile showing on your face as you thanked her, moving on to standing up from your bed and grabbing the towel you’d left strayed on top of it. Once that was out of the way, you went off to hit the showers and began to ready yourself for the big day ahead, proposing you would bring up the topic with Amethyst tonight.

There were six of you once more, the difference from yesterday being it was now Pearl and Garnet’s turn to choose spots you would be visiting.
Pearl had chosen to see the monumental fountain set on the farthest side of the area as well as a place giving Krav Maga fighting lessons, located a few miles away from where the cafe laid at.
On the other hand, Garnet had chosen the fair again, claiming she had to play a few more rounds of the rhythm game she’d played yesterday. She’d also chosen a walk around the small town that owned this vacation spot, though what she most seemed onset about was the first one.
“Shall we head to the fountain now?” Pearl questioned, once more being left behind the wheel while Greg played a card game with Steven. “Make sure you have everything on you before we leave.”
Everyone made sure they had everything set before leaving, notifying it was okay for her to begin driving to her first destination.
As you waited to make your arrival, you cast a sheepish look towards Amethyst, looking away quickly when seeing her glance back at you.
“Okay,” she spoke, a huff mixed with a chuckle leaving her lips. “You’ve been doing that for a while now, dude -- ‘Fess up!”
She jabbed your shoulder gently with her elbow, wanting to get you to open up.
“I won’t bite.”
You sent a weak smile to her direction, not knowing how to delve into the topic -- especially now that you weren’t alone with her, unlike yesterday.
“Well. . . There’s something I’ve been wanting to ask you, but. . .” You trailed off on your words, trying to face her gaze. “I need to tell you when we’re alone.”
The purple Gem raised an eyebrow in response to your words, an amused grin taking over her face.
“Never took you for the mysterious type,” she joked, causing for some of your tension to go away. “Guess we’ve both gotta lot to know about each other, huh?”
You complied to her words, your smile shifting into a more honest one.
“I guess we do.”
