Greg and Steven had chosen four places for you to visit, these being a breakfast and dinner cafe, a small fair, a comic book shop, and a hill on the far side of the hotel.

Though they’d assured you and the rest that you didn’t need to feel obliged to follow them to all those places, everyone seemed eager to explore them and you were, too.

Everything about the area you were staying in was soothing -- from the cool temperature provided to you by the vast vegetation composed of palm trees and bamboo stalks to the breathtaking landscape the lake from afar created. The cheerful atmosphere from the people walking around complimented that feeling, allowing for a sense of adventure to settle over you.

Amethyst stayed close to your side during your walk to the cafe, asking you what you’d managed for your university while you were away for these three days.

“The professors told me it was fine, since I’m caught up with the material, but. . .”

Her interest piqued at the sight of you trailing off on your words, leading for her to speak up again.

“Did someone give you a hard time?” she questioned, raising an eyebrow as her lips turned into a straight line, curiosity and concern both present in her inquiry.

“Not really -- Well, sort of. . .” You huffed, passing a hand over the back of your neck. “The professor from my first period was kind of against who I was going on vacation with.”

Silence settled between you for a moment, her lips breaking into a smirk.

“Eh,” she spoke, shrugging as she jabbed her elbow playfully against your rib. “Not many people like what we do -- some even call us ‘circus performers’ and stuff.”

“Doesn’t it make you angry?”

“Most of the ones we meet don’t really mean that much harm -- for me, at least,” she replied, slowing on her steps when seeing others do the same.

Everyone was gradually stopping on their tracks, having reached the cafe after a few minutes of walking.

“I dunno about the others,” she continued, looking up at you. “But, sometimes, it’s better not to let it get to your head too much,”

You nodded in reply to her words, smiling at her to let her know you agreed with her words.

The two of you promptly entered the food establishment, the scent of coffee and bread taking over your sense of smell. Looking at your surroundings, you were able to see many customers having their breakfast, some alone, some in pairs, and some in large groups similar to yours.

You followed the rest of your companions to the ordering line, discussing what you wanted to eat and what drink you would have to accompany it.

The six of you spent around an hour eating and chatting away at the cafe, resting on your seats for a while to avoid gaining a stomach ache. While you did so, you discussed about the rest of the places you had left to visit, the fair being the next destination on Greg and Steven’s list. It was only ten thirty, and you’d plenty of time left to share with the others until nighttime arrived over the sky.

“Everybody ready to head to the fair?” Greg asked, a gentle smile on his face. “We can take the van this time, since it’s a little farther down the road.”

Everyone around agreed to his offer, standing up from their respective seats as they all began to leave the premises. You assured Amethyst it was okay for her to continue along with the rest, wanting to have a talk with Pearl about the purple Gem herself.

“Is something the matter, (Y/n)?” Pearl inquired, a hint of worry crossing her pale features.

“I just wanted to ask you something about someone,” you answered, shifting briefly on your feet before facing with her.

Noticing the vague way you referred to that ‘someone’, she waited for the rest of the group to venture further off ahead. Once everyone was farther away from her sight, she faced with you again, concern highlighted over her features.

“It’s just. . . I’ve been wanting to get Amethyst to open up a bit more, but. . . I’m not sure how to, and I don’t want to come off as intrusive or impulsive -- or anything like that.”

It took a minute for her mouth to break into a small smile, her overall look softening when looking at you.

“Worry not, (Y/n),” she spoke, calm replacing the previous worry in her voice. “If you’re worried she doesn’t like to be around you. . . That’s not the case -- She would have said it already, otherwise.”

Though that wasn’t exactly what you wanted to talk about, her words made you break into a bright smile.
