Dancing Legends | Week 1

The highly anticipated KBS reality show Dancing Legends has finally aired! It was an hour long episode that had us laughing, falling in love with these unexpected pairings, and even shedding a few tears at the first elimination.

If you aren't aware, this blog will be summarizing the top 3 couples of the week and the couple who was eliminated.

If you haven't seen the first episode yet, here's your warning! Spoilers ahead!

The couple receiving the highest score this week, a perfect 50, was Seulgi and Taeyong! Were any of us surprised? Everyone knew they had it in the bag when they were randomly given Hip Hop as the genre. They blew the house down with their performance of Humble. Watch below!

We watched these two joke around a lot during their rehearsals. Because they are from the same company, they must know each other really well because their chemistry and ability to be goofy with each other amazed audiences all over the country! The judges loved watching them on stage together. Judges Ailee and Heechul couldn't stop gushing over how charismatic they are alone, and even more so as a duo, and how they demand the attention of the audience. This performance was absolutely worthy of a perfect score.

In a very close second place for the first week with a score of 48 was...Kai and Momo! These two gave the audience and judges an eerily chilling, incredibly creative, and oddly sexy performance of Toxic.

This couple was a bit awkward at first, but when they started pitching each other ideas they were on a roll and couldn't stop! Momo looked absolutely gorgeous in her haunting ballerina costume and Kai gave us life with his robotic moves! These two are the main dancers in two of the biggest groups in kpop right now, so we shouldn't be shocked at how amazing this routine was! They were only deducted one point by two judges for technicalities, proving that they're near perfect. Also, it's refreshing to see Momo perform a more hard hitting routine. She absolutely stole the show. I look forward to seeing them next week!

And in third place with a score of 47 was...Hoshi and Yuju! They made all of our hearts flutter with their stunning performance of Say You Won't Let Go.

These two, dubbed by knetz as the Adorkable Couple, were...well, exactly that: adorkable! They were laughing shyly with each other while pitching ideas, and every time they had to get close they were a bumbling awkward mess! The audiences watching at home and judges absolutely fell in love with them together! It was like watching a super cheesy kdrama unfold right before our eyes on this show! I, for one, have already found my favorite couple of the competition. And did you see those two lifts? Iconic.

Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to one couple at the end of the episode.

Scoring the lowest score of a solid 36 was...Lay and Nayoung.

It wasn't that they weren't good, the judges told them, it was just that their performance was a bit lack-luster compared to the others. This could potentially be due to how awkward they were with each other. Their communication skills seemed to be a bit lacking during the rehearsal process and they seemed like they just couldn't get comfortable with each other.

Some knetz and exo-l's are actually happy about this, claiming Lay needs time to rest (he's just had a solo comeback AND a comeback with EXO!) and I definitely agree. As sad as I am to see a Pledis family member gone, I must say that the judging was fair and accurate.

Maknae Couple, Gigi and Jisung, ranked 5th this week for their super fun and high energy performance of All I Wanna Do.

Cutie Couple, Kino and Jane, were 6th with their 90s inspired routine, That's What I Like.

Killer Couple, Shownu and Bomi were 7th with the playful routine of New Rules.
