Chapter 20

Annabeths p.o.v

We swam and reached the big floaty thingy. We started at the starting line. "Race ya." I said. "Your on rocky" he said. I smiled "Go in 3...2....1" I said. At one we both dashed for the first obstacle. We were halfway through the obstacle when I knew I needed to slow him down "Percy wait" I said ,he turned around "what's up" he asked me. I walked really close to him backing him up to the edge. I leaned in and our lips were inches apart. I hitched my breath, he studied my face. He leaned in and as our lips were about to touch I pushed him. I laughed. He swam to surface. "You little" he said laughing. He swung his hand and suddenly a huge wave pushed me in next to him. "Where were we?" he said. I laughed. He made the wave push me closer to him. I wrapped my arms around his neck, the waves keeping us from not drowning. I leaned in and kissed him. He pulled apart and smiled. "Happy now" I said laughing. "Very" he replied.
We climbed back on the floaty thing and finished the obstacle course. After that we just stopped competing.

Mrs Jackson's p.o.v
(on what just happened)
Paul was sitting next to me reading a book. We finally got a day to relax. Boy does having a baby take so much out of you. I can't believe I forgot how it was with Percy. Now don't get me wrong I love my little Essie. But she can be a pain. I looked up from my thoughts to see Percy and annabeth running around on that floaty thing. They looked so happy. Percy looked so happy. I hadn't seen him smile like that in forever. His life used to be miserable, getting kicked out of all his schools. He never meant to hurt anybody. Camp half blood was the best thing that could happen to him. I glanced at Paul still reading. When I looked up annabeth was against Percy backing him up to the edge. I knew what was gonna happen next. I laughed to myself. Smart girl. The were inches apart when she pushed him into the water. She laughed in triumph, then was pulled in by one of Percy's waves. Suddenly they were both in the water. Moving closer to each other. She wrapped her arms around his neck and they kissed. They pulled away and smiled. Then and there I knew that Percy was finally happy. I started tearing up, I mean the look on his face when he was with her was just so much. He was more than happy. I could only hope Essie would find someone she could fell that with too.
After that they came back to the beach and dried off. We sat and talked for awhile before getting back into the car to go home. We all went our separate ways to dry off and change or what not. Paul and I changed and when we walked into the family room we found Percy and annabeth curled up on the couch with a blanket sleeping. They were watching the office. I guess that was a show they had started together. Paul and I made tea and headed bakc to the bedroom to sleep.
