Kokichi franticly ran around the castle, breaking into rooms and questioning people. The blue haired detective had yet to be seen. It was almost like he vanished into thin air. Kokichi concidered that maybe the bottle had been refilled and Shuichi left their world entirely, but there was no way the bottle filled up that quickly. Unless…
He felt a pain in his chest. He hoped that hadn’t been the case. There was only one way to find out.
Not even waiting till he was back in his room, or atleast a safe place, he ran into a wall, knocking himself out. Darkness engulfed him, sending him into a dream. He immediately stopped it and called out to who he was looking for. Tsumugi appeared, sipping a cup of coffee.
“Little early, don’t you think,” Tsumugi asked. “I haven’t even finished my coffee yet!”
“Where is he,” Kokichi asked, trying to keep what little calmness he had left in his voice.
“Which one?”
“Shuichi!” He stopped, taking a second to breathe. “Where is Shuichi...?”
“Oh! The outsider! You’re looking for him?” She purposely delayed her answer, smiling as Kokichi slowly decented back into panic.
“Tsumugi!”
“Fine fine. Don’t worry, he’s still here.”
Kokichi sighed in relief. “But where?”
“With Maki, of course!” She smiled innocently.
“All the color drained from his face. “W-what!?”
Tsumugi giggled. “Better hurry!” She snapped her fingers.
…
Up in a room at the top of the castle, Maki held a sword to Shuichi’s neck. She was making sure she got answers without anyone stopping her. Shuichi avoided looking at the sharp object that might impale him, though, the room wasn’t all that much better to look at. It was a dark room with a mostly dark red color scheme. Weapons and various torture weapons were lined up on the walls and tables. Despite the eerie atmosphere they gave, a bed placed in the corner made this seem like any other bedroom. Then again, he had just come from Kokichi’s room.
“Tell me everything I want to know,” Maki said, getting back Shuichi’s attention.
“A-Ask away,” Shuichi stuttered out.
“Who are you?”
“My n-name is Shuichi S-Saihara.”
“No. I mean, where are you from? What are you? You seem to know more than you should.”
“O-oh… well… y-you see…” Shuichi looked away.
“Answer me!” The tip of the sword was now touching skin.
“Okay okay!” He took a step back, sighing. “I guess there’s no way out of this without the truth…”
“If you don’t tell me right now-”
Shuichi pushed the sword away, cutting his hand a bit. “I’m not from… whatever this world is. I was brought here by Kokichi. I’m not sure why though. As for how I know you and a couple others, in my world… we use to all be friends…” His voice broke at the last sentence.
“Go on.” She put the sword down.
“U-um… that’s all I really know… Oh! One more thing. I’m appearently concidered an outsider. I guess it’s because I’m not from here but I could be wrong. There. Now that’s all.” A couple tears went down his cheeks.
Maki got closer to him, wiping away the tears. “If that’s all, why are you crying? You’re not telling me something.”
“I-It’s not important…”
She growled, but before she could interrogate any further, Kokichi swung open the door, startling the two.
“Shuichi,” Kokichi yelled.
Everything went by too fast. One second, everyone was standing there in confusion and fear. The next, Maki collapsed to the floor, blood making its way down her head. Shuichi screamed, backing away. Kokichi ran up to him, pulling the shaky male into a tight hug despite his struggles.
“She isn’t dead.” Kokichi whispered.
“Y-you could’ve k-killed her,” Shuichi yelled, trying to get away from the purple gremlin.
“She will heal. We don’t die as easy as you could…”
To Shuichi, it sonded like a threat. “W-what do you-”
“I was so scared… I-I thought…” Kokichi sniffled, wiping his eyes.
This surprised Shuichi. “Huh? Are you… crying? Look. I’m fine-”
“I’m not crying over that, silly!” He immediatly went back to his cheery persona. “Now, let’s go. Maki’s guards are probably already on their way. And trust me, you don’t want to be here for this.”
Shuichi hesitently nodded, staring at the body. Kokichi quickly got him out of there.
