An hour of training had gone by, the sun starting to set. Kaito continuously switched between easy and hard, resulting in Shuichi almost losing a leg. Shuichi tried to see if he could predict Kaito's next move, raising his sword up to block the attack. But he miscalculated, suddenly being throw off his feet. Kaito sighed in frustration, losing his patience. By now, he had hoped Shuichi could at least dodge. He knew this wouldn't be easy, but was beginning to doubt Shuichi would ever learn. Looking over at the other assassins, he watched how they trained, wishing his lessons would go as smoothly as theirs.
"Kaito," Shuichi said, sitting up.
"What," Kaito asked, slowly looking back at Shuichi.
"Can we take a break?"
Kaito glared down at Shuichi, wanting to scowled him for dare suggesting that. They had only been training for an hour and already Shuichi wanted to quit? This was beginning to feel like a chore, making Kaito regret his decisions. Deciding he wasn't in the mood to argue, he sat down next to Shuichi, putting his sword beside him. He listened to Shuichi sigh of relief, rolling his eyes.
"You all must train a lot to not be effected by this." Shuichi laid back, looking up at the sky.
Kaito groaned in response, hating being around someone so weak. This felt like an insult. He wondered where Shuichi could've came from and why they didn't train to use a sword at any moment. Wasn't this basic knowledge? Shuichi's world must be so bland compared to his. An idea popped in his head, causing him to chuckle. He imagined how fun it would be to cause a little chaos there. There was no doubt in his mind that people there were just as defenseless as Shuichi. His destruction could easily wipe out possibly half the world. Despite how crazy that sounded, Kaito was sure it was possible, debating on finding a way to Shuichi's small alternate world.
The random laugh put Shuichi on edge, nervous as to what Kaito could be thinking of. He didn't want to even try to understand Kaito, knowing how messed up his mind was. Actually, he could say the same for everyone else as well. It was best to not understand them. It wasn't his mission. What he needed to do was get home. After that... well, he didn't want to think that far ahead. Thinking of going home didn't only lead to a reminder about how much things sucked, but it also brought him back to his last conversation with Kaito. That was a whole other problem on its own. And he definitely wasn't ready to deal with that.
The two remained lost in thoughts for about half an hour, not noticing a figure approaching them from behind. Maki glared down at them, both confused and furious. Kaito was suppose to be hunting Kokichi but instead was hanging out with the outsider. She pulled out her sword, suddenly cutting off Shuichi's ahoge as she jammed the sword down above Shuichi's head into the ground. He gasped, immediately sitting up. This caught Kaito's attention, making him turn towards Shuichi. Before he knew it, Maki kicked him in the face, sending him to the ground. Both were shocked and speechless.
"I send you on an assignment and yet you decide to just hang out with your new friend," Maki shouted, crossing her arms.
The two stood up, unsure on Maki's next move. Kaito prepared for a fight, sword already in hand. After training with Shuichi for so long, he longed for an actual challenge. But Shuichi wasn't okay with this, hating the idea of seeing these two fight to the possible death. He stepped between them, clearing his throat.
"Were you the reason he tried to kill Kokichi," he asked, trying to keep his voice calm.
She raised an eye bow, clearly annoyed by Shuichi's interference. "Yes? What of it?"
He blinked a couple times, staring into her eyes. There was no guilt present, infuriating him. Even though he already knew the answer, he couldn't stop himself form asking. "Why?"
"Why?" She got closer to his face, her eyes almost seeming to glow red. "Because he has repeatedly disobeyed me and never listens."
Shuichi stayed silent for a second, trying to decide what to do. He could easily just walk away, considering that for once no one was after him. But then that would mean Kaito and Maki would fight. And its already been proven that no one here has ever even heard of mercy. One would surely die. Even if they would come back, he couldn't accept this.
Thinking back to the Maki and Kaito in his world, he got an idea. Keeping an eye on Maki, he picked up his sword. Maki immediately began to raise her's, ready for a fight. To Shuichi's surprise, he instinctively moved the sword up, blocking Maki's attack.

🌿So guess who spent almost all her free time yesterday messing around on deviantart which caused a headache. This dumbass. But that isn't really what i wanted to say. I might be going on hiatus for a bit. I haven't taken a break from writing almost constantly in a while and it is starting to show. This is actually starting to feel like more of a chore. Plus I feel I don't have much time to think everything that happens through. I'm starting to lose inspiration to where I can't write or draw anymore it seems. Idk. I'm kind of scared to go on hiatus though because idk when I'll finally come back. And knowing me, I'll procrastinate as long as possible. So, uh, yeah. Idk what I'm going to do.🌿
