I've never been to Mexico but is one of the places on my bucket list to visit! Mexico is a pretty big country and slang is very regional so this is just for everywhere.
Why learn Slang?
This will give you an advantage over other tourists visiting the specific country. Slang is included in everyday conversation and is necessary if you want to speak like a native.*Be careful, in other countries, slang means different things so it's best you don't say some of these in other countries
Güey (Wey) - used like "dude" for friends
Aguas! - although it may seem weird to other Spanish speakers, the expression "Aguas!" is used for saying something like "watch out!"
Pinche - a negative adjective to describe someone/something ugly or terrible and can also be used as a cuss word
Chavo/Chava - a teen or kid
Fresa - while usually meaning strawberry, fresa in México also means a stuck up snob
Chicano - used to describe a Mexican living in the USA or who immigrated there when they were little
Prieto - describes someone with darker skin (non offensive)
Pedo - can be used as either: a fart, in the phrase "qué pedo?" Like "what's up", a problem, or being drunk
Refresco - any soda/juice drink
Chamarra - other countries say chaqueta for jacket but Mexico says chamarra
Chingar - this is a very versatile word and is mostly used in a negative way like "chinga tu madre" = "fuck yourself" but can sometimes be used in a positive way "chingonazo" = an admirable person
