Do you want to speak like a Dominican? Well too bad because I'm not much of a fast talker in Spanish.
I do however work on my speed so I don't sound like a bumbling tourist in my own family's home. Here are a few tips on how to speak faster:
1. Speak out loud when learning a phrase. Start out slow and build up speed until you feel confident saying it when you're speaking. Make up a conversation in your head and practice saying what you wanna say (alone or else you'll look like you're hallucinating in public).
2. Remember to make sure you're getting your pronunciation right by listening to native speakers!! This is so important bc it doesn't matter if you're speaking fast if your target audience doesn't know what you're saying! Also remember to stick to one dialect if you can. For example, if you want to learn Cuban Spanish, listen to how Cuban speakers pronounce their words and learn the local language/culture.
3. Practice tongue twisters. I actually posted some at the beginning of this book! These are good to get your tongue used to rapid spanish words and will improve your pronunciation as well
