"I pushed him off of me but he kept trying to kiss me!" I tell Maris as we sit on her bed.
"Gross!" She says, scrunching her face and cringing.
"I mean, he is my Step-Brother! He kissed me! His lips were... oh God I think I'm going to be sick." I say, placing a hand over my mouth and on my stomach.
"What an asshole."
"I have to share a house with him!" I look at my phone and see its 2:30.
"I have to go. Daniel is taking me somewhere."
"Are you sure that's a safe idea?" Maris asks as I walk out of her room.
"I have no choice."

The car ride to Daniel's friend's house is immensely awkward. I sit in the passenger seat looking out the window while he drives, both of us not saying a word. No noise. You could hear a pin drop if it wasn't for the motor of the car.
When we finally arrive, Daniel and his friend, Jamie, take fifteen minutes to talk about their lives and I take this opportunity to look around the house. Scratch that, mansion.
As soon as I open the front door, there is a huge foyer with hardwood flooring and white walls with a giant chandelier. I walk past a pristine dining room, living room and kitchen to find a door.
"I see you've found my hide away." A voice says from behind me, causing my body to start trembling. I feel one hand on my waist and the other slowly running down my arm. I can't fight back because if I do, Daniel is sure to make my life a living hell, even though it already is.
Jamie opens the door with the hand that was on my waist and I walk down a flight of stairs and turn to see musical equipment and a little room with a microphone and headphones.
"Go in there." Jamie demands. I don't hesitate to lock myself in the tiny room, even though I do get claustrophobic. I place the headphones on and look out of the glass window to see Daniel and Jamie staring at me.
"Can you hear me?" Jamie's voice says through the headphones. I nod and he laughs a dry laugh. "Not much of a talker are ya? Whatever. You're going to sing the female parts of the song Over and Over Again. The track is playing now and the music is on the stand to your left."
I grab the music, not knowing anything about this song for the life of me. I take a deep breath and act as if I am still in my room with my ear buds in.
I hear the music and a man singing in my headphones and finally hear my entrance.
Once the song is finished, I look up to see Daniel nodding and Jamie's jaw wide open.
Um... Okay.
"Yeah, we...uh...we're gonna take five." He says, gesturing me to come out. I don't want to be in-front of them, but I have no say in the matter.
I walk out and sit in a chair next to all of the equipment while Daniel and Jamie talk. Finally, they look at me and I feel them studying my features, which creeps me out.
"Alright. So I would like to sign you to my record label. I don't do this very often, but you've got the chops. I'm going to make your voice heard and make you an extreme amount of cash for it. So, what do you say?" Jamie offers. I think about the pros and cons of the decision I'm about to make. If I let myself out there, my life will completely change and I may get even more hurt that I already am. After a while of contemplating, I open my mouth.
"I want a different name. I don't want people to see me as Juliet." Because I don't know who Juliet is, I include that last part to myself.
"Fine, what name would you like?" I take a minute and think about my choices.
"Genevieve King." They look at each other and nod their heads.
I sign numerous documents, reading them all over to make sure I'm not signing away my soul to the devil. Once I'm done, Daniel takes me back home and I couldn't be more grateful to be away from men, until there's a knock at my door.
"Yes?"
"Good work today." Daniel says, coming into my room.
"Thanks. Can I have my book back now?"
"Not yet. I need the money from Jamie first. You make me money, you get your book. That's the deal." I let out a frustrated sigh and Daniel mimics me, walking out of the room.
Jerk.
I have a bad feeling in my gut that this is going to turn out horribly. My Dad always told me to listen to my gut. Now, I'm afraid it's right.
