Happily Ever Never!?!

CHAPTER 2: A New Client

Life couldn't be any better. I have an amazing family that I would do anything for and know just how lucky I am everyday when I wake up and see them both. 

Today Penny was getting ready for when we leave tomorrow for Disney World and I had planned to help her but first, I needed to do a few things at work. Which I was really happy and lucky might I add that I was able to start my own construction business and have been real successful with it. 

While finishing a few email's to send off to several of my clients to let them know I was going on vacation, I hear my office phone go off. 

I let it ring a few times before getting it and finally send the last email right as I answer the phone. 

"Cade's Construction." I answered. 

"Never pictured you as a construction worker." Said the last voice I had hoped I would never hear again. 

"What do you want?" I asked him through gritted teeth. 

"We aren't going to play that game. In fact, I was thinking that maybe you could help me with something." 

"I'm not in that lifestyle any more." I tell him. 

"Oh, we both know that's a lie. Especially after that stunt you pulled killing one of my best client's ever. Did you really think you could just leave everything behind and not have to repay your debt?" 

"I don't owe you shit." I remind him. 

"Oh but you do. You killed my best client. Not to mention the debt you owe from the year before you met that little bitch you married." He says. 

"Listen Sterling, I swear to god..." I started to threaten but he stopped me. 

"Stop right there. You will do exactly as I ask without any questions and you will pay back your debt one way or the other. And if I were you, I would accept my most lenient offer I have ever given anyone because if you don't, I'm sure your wife and son wouldn't mind knowing who you really are."

"What do you want?" I asked. 

"I'll call you in a few days. We'll meet up and work out some kind of a deal then. Until then, enjoy your family vacation." He says. 

Before  I could say anything else, he hung up and I just sat there behind my desk, staring at the floor as I remain in shock. 

I can't believe Sterling has found me. I swear, this is just my luck. All my life I have had the luck of when something seems like it will be good, quickly it get's replaced with bad. Fuck!! What the hell am I going to do now? I can't let Penny know what I REALLY was few years ago. 

After a few hours of sitting in my office, thinking about what to do, I finally decided just to go home and to be on alert the entire trip but also, try to figure out in what I'm going to do. I can't let Penny find out what's going on and yet, I can't go back to what I was before her and Charlie. I can't put her through all that bullshit again and especially can't put Charlie through any of that. 

When I came home, I headed inside of the house after greeting my sexy beautiful wife and was right away greeted by Charlie running down the stairs up to me with his arms opened. 

"Dad?" He asks. 

"Yeah buddy?" I ask him. 

"Can we go tonight to Disney World?" He asks me. 

"I'm sorry buddy but we have to wait for tomorrow." I tell him. 

"Okay." He says sounding disappointed. 

"I'll tell you what though, why don't you go and pick out a movie while we order some pizza and we'll stay up really late tonight." I suggest. 

"Okay." He says excited and then runs up the stairs as I hear Penny protest behind me. 

"Babe, he can't stay up late, then he'll be really tired and cranky tomorrow." Penny says. 

"Don't worry, we both know he can't stay up too late." I wink at her. 

She looks at me for a moment before answering. 

"Fine, but if this backfires on you, you're dealing with his irritation from the lack of sleep tomorrow." She says. 

"I'll take full responsibility." I chuckle as I pull her closer to me and kiss her. 

"This doesn't mean you've won." She says against my lips. 

"Whatever you say honey." I reply before continuing to kiss her. 

Then I smack her ass and start ordering the pizza and wings. Then Charlie comes running downstairs with several movies in his hands. 

"Okay. Since we're going to Disney World, I thought we should watch Disney Pixar movies." He smiles. 

"Sounds good dude. Why don't you put the first movie in and when the pizza comes, we'll all sit down and start watching it." I tell him. 

"Okay." He smiles and then heads into the living room and puts the first DVD in. 

Tonight was a good distraction from what happened earlier today. But it wasn't until I was laying down, trying to fall asleep but was failing badly when I started thinking about Sterling and the phone call. I don't know what I'm going to do but whatever it is, I'll need to figure it out soon.
