CHAPTER 16: What Do You REALLY Want?!?

It's been a few days since Mr. Radcliffe was nice enough to give us one of his getaway places in the mountains to hide at until we could think of a plan. 

I hate this. It makes me feel like a failure. I'm supposed to be helping and taking care of my family and give our son a better life than I had but instead, we're hiding all because of my past and the mistakes I made. 

Penny and I had just gotten done tucking Charlie into bed upstairs and then made our way downstairs and as she starts to clean up the popcorn bowl and glasses we used while watching a movie after dinner. 

I can tell she's tired and honestly, I don't know how she has stayed with me through all of this but I promise that I will make it up to her and Charlie. 

I was about to walk up to her and give her a kiss but was interrupted from the vibration of my phone going off. When I pulled it out of my pocket and looked to see who it was, I noticed it was Mr. Radcliffe. So I walked out in the front on the porch as I answered. 

"Hey." I answered. 

"Sorry it has taken me so long to get a hold of you. But we have a problem." He begins. 

"What do you mean?"

"Framez and Sterling are up to something and I think that might be on their way." He says. 

"What?! I thought you told me we would be safe here and there was no way he could find us?" I asked while feeling both furious and suspicious in what the hell exactly was going on. I almost felt like he was keeping something from me. 

The next thing I hear are both Penny and Charlie screaming for me. So I quickly run back into the cabin and see Penny and Charlie being held by one of Sterling's men. 

"You really thought I wouldn't figure out in where you were at?" Sterling smirks as he comes out from behind the guy holding Penny. 

"What the hell do you want?!" I ask. "You want your fucking casino built I'll do it. Whatever the hell it is, i'll do it just let my family go." I beg a little. 

"I never thought I'd ever see the day when the Cade would be begging me." He smirks. 

"Obviously this was never about a fucking casino. So what?" I asked. 

"Well, I noticed that Mr. Radcliffe and you have reunited and seemed to have teamed up to try and take me down. So I thought I'd make it a little more interesting for you both." He smirks. 

"Why the hell are you doing this?!" I shouted out at him. 

"Because you owe me from what happened in Vegas." He recalls. 

"What are you talking about?" I asked confused. 

"Of course you don't remember." He chuckles. "Does Ariana ring a bell?" He says. 

"No." I tell him although I do remember I just don't want to have Penny find out in what happened. 

"Really? You don't remember fucking my girlfriend behind my back and then burying her while she was pregnant?" He reminds me. 

"First of all, she was my girlfriend who happened to be cheating on me with you. Then you knocked her up and because you knew that it was Mr. Radcliffe's daughter, you killed her after finding out she was going to have YOUR baby and instead of owning up to it, you killed her, buried her and framed me." I remind him.

"I get it that you want to protect your reputation and prince charming act for your wife and child here but we both know what kind of a monster you are and that you can't just up and leave this kind of life without consequences." He says. 

"I swear,  if you...." I began before a guy came up behind me and pointed a gun to the back of my head before I quickly turned around and knocked the gun out of the mans hands and begin punching him as others tried coming to help him out and everything and suddenly, I hear one final gunshot and look to see Penny lying on the ground, bleeding from her stomach and I quickly run to her before hearing Charlie screaming out for me and try to go after him but am hit from behind and the last thing I see is my son reaching out for me as everything begins becoming blurry and fades away until all that's left for me to see is darkness.
