CHAPTER 19: Let's Go Get My Family

I can't just lay here and not do anything. However, on the other hand, I'm not so sure I can get passed this guy guarding me.

I know that Cade will be able to get our son back, there's no doubt in my mind.

I try thinking of a way to get this guy to leave just in time for me to sneek out without him noticing but how could I even attempt that? Then it came to me.

"Uh, excuse me, can you get me something please?" I ask him.

"Sorry but, under Cade's orders, I can't leave you alone." He tells me.

"But I have really been wanting a soda and cheezits. Can you please please get me some?" I try to beg.

"Sorry." He says.

Damnit! Why the hell can't this guy be dumb ?

Then I hear a knock on the door and he quickly puts his hand on the gun in the back of his pants as he slowly begins opening the door and is instantly shot in the head, falling back onto the floor as some guy comes walking in.

"Who are you?" I asked scared.

"I'm an old friend of Cade's and that man who's dead now, was working for Sterling." He says as he removes the silencer from his gun and puts both into his pocket.

"You look like someone from the movie 'Reservoir dogs.' " I tell him.

"Thanks, I take that as a compliment." He smirks at me. "Anyways, we need to go." He tells me.

"Wait, how do you know that guy wasn't one of Mr. Radcliffe's men?"

"Because I know all of Mr. Radcliffe's men and know that I have never seen that man before in my life." He says while pulling out my clothes from the clear plastic hospital bag they put them in.

"Oh." I reply still feeling a bit confused.

"Now come on, we're wasting time." He says as he turns around facing the door after tossing me my clothes and after quickly putting them on, he begins escorting me out towards his car and he starts taking me to where both my son and Cade are at.

"Does Cade know you've come back to help him?" I ask.

"No. We haven't spoken or seen each other for a few years." He says.

"Why is that?" I ask.

"Do you always ask so many questions?" He asks.

"Well I don't know who you are other than from what you told me and that you killed one of Mr. Radcliffe's men or Sterling's guy, whomever he was. So yes, I want to know a little bit more." I reply. "But then again, you don't have to tell me if you don't want to."

It was silent for a few minutes before he let out a breath and began.

"I used to be one of Radcliffe's top men alongside Cade when we both started working for him at the same time. My name's Raymond. Cade and I were best friends until one day, I got the position Cade wanted and that seemed to have upset him and because he didn't want to admit it or talk it out, he just left the gang and started his own just to get back at Radcliffe. Then I became an assassin and have stayed away until Radcliffe called me the other day telling me what was going on."

"Oh." I say.

"Yeah well, despite our differences, Radcliffe has always had me watching Cade and you guys."

"Wow." I tell him.

We pull over a few feet from the front iron gates in front of the driveway to Sterlings' mansion. 

"Alright. We're gonna sneek through the backway, I'll cover you as you go into the mansion and look for your kid while I get Cade." He tells me. 

"What? Are you serious?" I ask him. 

"Yes, now there's not much time and don't worry, I've got your back." He says.
