CHAPTER 6: I'll Tell Her Everything Tomorrow

What the hell is happening to us? I haven't ever been this short tempered with her before and would have never purposely have done that.

I don't know why I feel irritated around her right now. It's just between having to work for Sterling and then remembering how he told me she helped me get the jobs that I have, I was upset again and now, I'm regretting not talking to her about everything. I swear, I am so fucked up. I have to try and make it up to her. But then I hear my phone go off and see it's Sterling. Shit!!

I leave the room and make my way downstairs as I answer.

"What!?!" I snap.

"Take it easy Cade. Don't forget who you're talking to." He says.

"You don't forget who YOU'RE talking to." I warn him.

"I'll let that one slide." He says. "However, I need for you to meet me on the site with your crew so we can go over the blueprints in what I want to have you do." He says.

"It's Saturday. I have plans." I tell him.

"Yeah, you're working for me." He tells me.

"Now you listen to me Sterling, I will NEVER work for you. I'm only doing this to protect my family and we both know that you need me, so don't pretend like you can give me orders. I have weekends off for family time and during the weekdays, that's when me and my crew will work on your shitty ass Casino." I tell him.

It's silent for a moment and then I hear him finally answer.

"Fine. Monday morning then." I hear him agree through clenched teeth.

Right after we hang up, I hear Penny's car turn on and as soon as I run outside to the driveway, I see her start driving away. Where the hell is she going?! And how the hell didn't I hear her? That was a short ass bath.

I quickly get into my truck, start it up and before I start to pull out of the driveway to go after her, I stop and think for a moment about what I'm doing. You know what? I'm not going to go after her, instead, I'm going to try and make her her favorite meal and then surprise her with flowers and candlelight and then end it with amazing makeup sex.

I have the table and everything set up and am now trying to make some dinner, not doing the best job might I add and then I hear the front door open up and turn to see it's Penny and Charlie?

"Is everything okay?" I ask.

"Yeah." She says after seeing my set up. "He just isn't feeling too good. So I'm gonna take him upstairs so he can sleep." She says.

She starts helping him up the stairs and as I watch them walk up, I can't stop feeling just how lucky I am. Well, more of like a reminder. I have an amazing wife who is the best mother to our son. I hope it's not too late to make things better.

I run back into the kitchen after smelling something burning.

"SHIT!" I call out while quickly taking out the now blackened roasted chicken.

I quickly put it into the sink and run cold water over it. Shit, things aren't going as planned, that's for sure.

"You never could cook." I hear Penny chuckle behind me while standing against the doorway in the kitchen.

I turn around as I begin to laugh.

"I know. But I try." I smile at her as I try to hide my embarrassment.

I then turn around and start to dry my hands with a hand towel by the sink while leaning back against the sink.

"Yeah." She says while looking down at the ground.

"How's Charlie?" I ask.

"He'll be okay. He actually fell right asleep as soon as I laid him down." She tells me.

"Good." I reply.

We both share a moment of silence before either one of us says anything.

"So, anyways, I'll go order some take out." She says as she turns and start walking into the living room as she scrolls down on her phone for something to order when I begin walking up behind her and wrap my arms around her waist and start kissing her neck. 

I then turn her around and take the phone from her hand and toss it onto the couch as I begin kissing her then picking her up by gripping onto her ass and start making our way up to the bedroom and kicking the door shut while not breaking our lips from each other's until I lay down on top of her on the bed and look into her eyes while we catch our breaths. 

"I love you." I tell her. 

"I love you too." She smiles. 

"I'm sorry for the other night and for snapping at you." I begin to apologize. 

"It's okay. We'll talk about it later. But for now, let's just have some amazing makeup sex." She smiles. 

"Mmmm." I moan and then go back to kissing her and we make love to each other before falling asleep in each other's arms. 

Tomorrow, I'm going to tell her everything. I just hope she understands.
