CADE

No one knows how their life will turn out. I know I sure as hell didn't. Never had I thought I would be a husband or a father. I never thought it was possible to live an honest life even because I thought that happened only in movies and hadn't known anyone before that that had happened to. I will say this though, a honest life is gonna be hard, but then again that's life in general. However, it feels good knowing I don't have to look over my shoulder every second to be sure an enemy isn't behind me ready to pull a trigger.

Of course, I still worry about my family but, what husband and parent doesn't? Especially in today's world where there is so much judgement and unnecessary hatred. But I will do my best to shield Charlie from what I can and teach him what I know and what I've learned. I am truly the luckiest man in the world and feel like I have everything I could ever want and then some.

I have just finished one of the biggest projects that I have had since I started my construction business and was approached from a billionaire who wanted to build his company building here in our town and since I was one of the only ones here, he gave me the project and my crew and I built it within less than a year. The man paid us a lot and my reputation grew bigger as he told his other friends about me.

Which couldn't have come at a better time since two years later after everything that went down, Penny was pregnant with our second child. She gave birth to another healthy son and as of right now, we are at the park celebrating Charlie's birthday while I'm grilling.

"Uncle Raymond!" I hear Charlie call out and we all look at him as he comes walking over handing Charlie a present.

"There you go little man." He smiles at him as he then goes up to Penny to hug her and our other son and then walks over to me. "Hey man, burning the food again?" He teases.

"Hey I'm not that bad." I hit him in the chest as I put the last burger patty on the platter and we start heading over to the table and everyone begins to eat.

Yes, Raymond barely made it that night, just as I barely did too. Unfortunately, Mr. Radcliffe didn't make it. But I like to think of him dying to save my family. At least that's what Penny and I told Charlie.

Sterling is gone of course and it was a huge sigh of relief but also, that night I realized something, that the life I lived before I met Penny, the life I thought was what I was destined to live and the man I thought I was meant to become, was not real. THIS life I have now and the man I am TODAY, is who I was meant to be and the life I was always meant to live and I gotta tell you that nothing compares to this.
