CHAPTER 21: Is It Over?

Once I was able to get inside, I was able to sneek all the way up the stairs and although there were a few times when I thought I would be caught, I wasn't thankfully and soon found where Charlie was being held at. 

The moment I walked inside, I noticed he looked tired a little bit but mostly felt pain in my chest as I saw him as a victim.

"Charlie?" I loudly whispered.

He turned to face me and quickly stood up from the floor and excitingly runs up to me and hugs me tightly.

"Mom!" He calls out with some tears in his eyes.

"Sweetie." I cry as I hold him tightly to me.

"Mom, I'm scared." He says.

"I know." I tell him as I kneel down in front of him and have him look at me. "I need you to listen to me. We are going to get out of here and in order to do that, we have to be very careful and very quiet."

"Okay." He nods his head in agreement.

"Alright, come on." I kiss him on the top of his head while taking hold of his hand and we slowly begin trying to leave the room.

At first, I open the door slowly and take a little look right to left a couple of times to make sure that the coast is clear and as soon as I noticed it was good for us to leave, we quickly began walking down the long hallway.

In my head, I was thinking of grabbing Charlie, putting him somewhere safe until I got to Cade. However, things weren't turning out the way I thought and I'm trying to keep myself together so that Charlie doesn't get more freaked out and scared than he already is.

Finally, we made it to the end of the hallway and were now just a few feet from the staircase.

Although as soon as I tried to run us to there, I felt someone grab my hair and yank me back while someone else comes out of nowhere and rips Charlie from my grasp.

I start screaming while trying hard to bite, kick and hit in order to get out of this guys grasp and get to my son but it wasn't working and I saw them begin tying both his wrists together as well as taping his mouth closed.

I can feel now both my wrists tied together along with my lips being taped shut while trying to scream out loudly.

Then they start taking us downstairs and we head into a room where I see Cade and Mr. Radcliffe along with Raymond who is pointing a gun at Sterling.

I was both relieved and scared at the same time as I saw Cade's enraged look on his face in which I haven't seen in a long time. The next thing I know he's now beating up Sterling and I notice Radcliffe and Raymond quickly go up to the other men as gunshots are being fired all around us.

I suddenly see Raymond walk up to me and Charlie and tries to help keep us out of harms way but gets shot in the leg while Radcliffe throws a punch at Framez and knocks the gun out of his hand and starts beating on Framez. 

"Oh my god." I cry to Raymond as we pull him into a room. "Let me see it." I tell him while trying to look at the bullet wound. "Okay, we need to stop the bleeding." I tell him and look up at Charlie. "Charlie, sweetie, I need for you to go and first of all, lock the door and then run into the bathroom, bring me all the towels in there and anything else you can find."

"Okay." He says as he starts running towards the door and then into the bathroom. 

"You're gonna be okay. I promise." I tell him. 

"It's all good." He says breathlessly while wincing as he squeezes my hand tightly from the pain. 

We hear pounding on the door and not sure in who it is, I start looking around to find anything that could be used as a weapon and unfortunately can't find anything. Then I see Raymond's gun he dropped to the side of him. 

"Charlie go into the bathroom and no matter what you hear, don't come out until I tell you okay?" I tell him. 

"Okay mom." He replies. 

I give him a huge hug and a kiss on the forehead before we hear the door banging again loudly while Raymond tries scooting towards the end of the bed and props himself up with his back against the bed. 

I cock the gun and point it at the door as I hear the pounding at the door become stronger until suddenly, the door gets kicked in and see Cade all bloodied up and holding his side with  blood seeping through his hand as he limps over towards me. 

"Oh my god." I say while getting up and quickly make my way over and throw my arms around him. 

"It's over baby." He says breathless. 

"Really?" I asked while trying to wipe away my tears. 

"Yeah." He weakly nods and then looks over at Raymond before limping over towards him and collapses next to him. 

"I'm going to call the police and an ambulance." I tell them as I run over towards the phone that's by the side of the bed. 

"You know, I never thought I'd say this but, it's good to see you man." I hear Cade tell him. 

"You too." He says taking in hollow breaths. 

"Thanks for helping out my family." He tells him. 

"Anytime man." Raymond tells him before they fist bump. 

I walk over to the bathroom and have Charlie open up the door before he comes running out and hugging Cade tightly. 

"Dad!" He says relieved. 

"Hey son." Cade replies with a smile. "Everything's okay now." He assures him.
