// chapter two. //

The lunchroom? Too clichè for her. The gym? Not her scene. The music room? She's too cool for that. Where in the world does Riley eat lunch? Did she go off campus with her friends? Probably.

Well where am I supposed to go today? All the guys are probably working on their girls or playing basketball. I could go practice some on the field, yeah I'll do that. Walking through the relatively empty halls something catches my eye. There was one person in the math room, Riley.

Score. This was my chance. I ran my fingers threw my hair, alright now it's time to win Riley over.

I walked over to her before stopping in front of her desk, "Hey, what's up?" I asked her casually.

"Math homework." She replied bluntly. What do I say now?

"I'm Lucas." I introduced myself, I'm sure she knows me but I couldn't think of anything else.

"And I'm not interested." She huffed, I don't think she has looked up at me during this whole exchange. God she was a bitch. Any other time I would walk right out, but this was the game so I had to stay put. I had to get her in bed.

"And I never said I was." I lie, I am interested, but not for the reason she may assume.

"Oh you're not? Then please enlighten me as to why you're here. Because I sure didn't invite you."

"What? I have homework to do too." I lie again, I don't have math until sixth period, which is after lunch. Plus my math homework has been done since seventh period yesterday.

"Oh? Where is it?" She said, finally looked up and raising her eyebrow. Wow, she's actually pretty hot.

"Alright you got me. I lied." I say finally telling the truth.

"Well, liar Lucas, it has been a pleasure but if you'll excuse me, I have actual work to do." She said gathering up her things preparing to walk out.

"Wait, you don't have to leave. And I never got your name." I say, of course I know her name but I have to make her believe I'm clueless.

"My name is Riley, but you already knew that." The tall brunette says before turning the corner and leaving the room.

This is gonna be harder than I thought.

"I'm telling you man I'll have Stacy in the sheets by the end of the week." Ian gloated as we all sat in the locker room waiting for soccer practice to get started.

"Whatever, she won't be that easy." Elliott argued as he put on his shin guards.

"You didn't see her at lunch today, she was practically drooling over me."

Ian continued, but I blocked him out. Riley was invading my thoughts. God, she was annoying. And hot. But mostly annoying.

"So Lucas, any luck with Miss Ray of Sunshine Riley?" Ian said smirking.

"F.uck you man." I said as I hurdled the ball at him, only to be caught by Cason seconds before it hit Ian in the face.

"Calm down ladies. We have to get to the field." Cason said has he carried the ball out the locker room. Ian, Elliott and I along with the rest of the team followed.

Practice was quite uneventful. Just our regular drills and a small scrimmage. A couple of freshman were messing around and one of them ran into the goal post but that was the highlight.

I decide to skip the shower today just because I don't feel like getting messed with while showering, which is inevitable in the locker room showers. Bragging my bag I walk out of the locker room then out into the school halls. Today might actually be my lucky day though because as soon as I turn the corner Riley walks out of a classroom.

"Hey Riley!" I call out before I can decide otherwise and begin jogging up to her.

"Sweaty, are you following me?" She turns around to greet me but I have already caught up with her.

"Sweaty huh?" I ask with a grin. Nicknames are a good sign.

"Yes, you are sweaty. And don't think I didn't notice that question nodge." She says stopping at her locker.

"Well, I was just leaving practice and you were just leaving that classroom. It's like fate wants us to talk." I say, I'm shamelessly flirting but it is all purely a show for the game.

"Sweaty but still persistent I see." Riley says grabbing her bag and closing her locker.

"What can I say? What were you doing in that classroom away?" I ask as we fall into step together.

"I do believe that is none of your business." Riley states, which is true. I thought girls liked when you wanted to talk about them?

"Just making conversation." I shrug as we walk out the front doors of the school.

"Well if you must know I was getting some help on my math. I don't understand it and I can't afford to fail that class." She says and turns to look at me.

"Help with math? You have to get help with your math?" I ask truly interested. I figured she was one of those smart but bitchy type girls.

"You shouldn't judge a book by it's cover." Riley mumbles, but I heard it.

"Well I could help you with your math you know. It would be a lot more fun plus I am a whole lot better looking than your math teacher." I say as we stop at her car, or what I assume is her car.

"You? You can help me with my math? Yeah right I bet you're barley passing yourself is this some cheesy way of getting me to on a date with you?" She asks as she opens her car door and slides into the drivers seat. Right before she closes her door I grab it.

"Believe it or not I'm in AP Calculus and I maintain an A. So no this is not my cheesy way of getting you to go on a date with me. I'm actually trying to help you." I say. Plus this could be my ticket to finishing my third round of the game.

"Why do I not believe you." She says, crossing her arms.

"You shouldn't judge a book by it's cover." I smirk, throwing her words back at her.

"Fine. Tomorrow at lunch same classroom as today. Don't try anything though, it won't work." She huffs and starts up her car.

"Okay. Tomorrow at lunch." I say as I close her door. She pulls out of her parking space and I send her a wave. I think I see her roll her eyes.

Alright, I've got my way in. Now I just need a plan.
