// chapter fifteen. //

Once we pulled into my drive way I turned off the engine and took the keys out. Riley made no attempt to move and either did I. Our hands were still joined and resting on the center consul.

I turned to look at her, she was looking out the front wind shield with no emotion in her eyes. No anger. No sadness. Nothing. Her hands were still slightly shaking but everything else about her was frozen.

"We can go inside if you want. We don't have to though." I spoke, breaking the silence.

She nodded slightly, letting me know that she heard me. I stepped out of the car but Riley didn't move so I went around and opened the door for her. She stepped out and hugged her arms to her small body. Then I realized that she must be cold, it was November and she was out in a tee shirt. I pulled her into my side in an effort to warm her up.

Once we reached my front door I reluctantly let go of her. Once the door was unlocked we both stepped in. Though Riley had been in my house once before she still looked around and took in her surroundings. I'm sure there were my questions she was dying to ask, but she didn't and for that I was very grateful.

"So um I'm not sure what you want to eat but we can order whatever or I can make something." I said trying to end this silence between us. It had only been about twenty minutes and I was missing the sound of her voice. When she didn't answer I realized how creepy I sounded, I just assumed she would be staying here. "I mean that is if you want to stay here I can take you somewhere else if you would rather be there."

"No I'd like to stay here if that is okay." Riley spoke quietly and sounded nothing like herself.

"Yeah that's totally okay." I said trying to reassure her.

"Thanks. And about dinner, I think I want to try something you make, as long as it's not poisoned." She joked half-heartedly.

"Okay I'll start that and you can go in the living room and watch TV or something, whatever it is you do in your free time. Besides think about me naked." I said playfully trying to lighten the mood.

"In your dreams pretty boy." Riley teased back.

I walked into the kitchen while she walked the opposite way to the living room. Before turning the corner I saw her stop and look at the photos hanging on the wall, ranging from my parents' wedding pictures to Christmas photos. From what I could see she was looking at the most recent of the pictures, my school photo from this year. I smiled to myself before rounded the corner, leaving Riley to totally check me out.

Ten minutes later I found myself making my two quesadillas, simple but looks like it required a little effort. I was so into the music I had put on I didn't realize that Riley had joined me in the kitchen. She stopped me mid-song.

"You know I didn't peg you for the type to be screeching All Time Low in the middle of your kitchen but now that I've seen it, it totally fits." She said crossing her arms.

"Aren't you supposed to be watching TV." I said raising my eyebrows.

"I got bored and plus, you are much more entertaining." Glad to see that she was back to normal I started singing again, but this time I grabbed Riley's hands and moving them around.

"I'M ONLY HAPPY WHEN I'M WASTED I POINT MY FINGER BUT I JUST CAN'T PLACE IT FEELS LIKE I'M FALLING IN LOVE WHEN I'M FALLING TO THE BATHROOM FLOOR." I chanted along and soon Riley was joining me, grabbing my wrists and twisting her hips. Our dancing was almost as terrible as our singing but in that moment we didn't care.

Once the song finished we burst into laughter. Not that the singing and dancing was that hilarious but just because we had so much fun. And looking at Riley in that moment, with her eyes crinkled and her hand covering her mouth she was completely and utterly beautiful.
