// chapter fourteen. //

Monday was terrible for three reasons. One, it was Monday. Two, I didn't finish my homework until midnight last night. Three and worst of all, I couldn't stop thinking about Riley f.ucking Brooks.

She invaded my every thought. Everything happening around me lead back to her. The girl in front of me in Calculus was wearing a purple shirt, Riley's favorite color was purple. The boy across from me was tapping his pencil, something Riley did when trying to figure something out. And most obviously, I was in math class, Riley hated math.

Never had I ever made a connection with one of my "victims" of the game. I was in deep shit and I knew it.

From: Riley

Hey I have a Chemistry test today so I have to study during lunch. Could you maybe come over to my house today after school for tutoring instead?

--

I looked at the text and debated my next move. Do I go to her house while I am this distraught or do I come up with some bullshit excuse? I decided to do neither and put my phone away.

Now that I had no lunch plans I didn't know what to do. I guess I could go eat at my usual table in the cafeteria. Now that all the boys were finished they probably were there.

When I walked in the cafeteria my assumptions were proven correct. Ian, Cason and Elliott were all sat at our table having a conversation. Once I approached the table the all turned to me.

"Did you finally get laid? Did playing teacher finally help you out?" Ian was the first to speak. God, was the only thing this prick knew how to talk about the game?
.
"F.uck off." I said as I sat down.

"So I'll take that as a no." Elliott laughed. "Come on dude I thought for sure when you ditched me on Halloween you were in. Girls love when you choose them over their friends!"

"You ditched Elliott for this bitch?" Ian said before I could respond.

"First of all, she's not a bitch. And no I didn't f.uck her, her sister Claire ended up falling off a swing and broke her arm." I said sounding defeated.

"Dude." Cason said but was soon cut off by Ian.

"You're really quick to defend her when just a month ago you would have called her a bitch yourself. What's wrong Lukey, are you turning soft on us? Is the reason you can't seem to f.uck Riley because she has your balls?" Ian leaned back in his seat with his arms crossed, seeming satisfied with himself.

"How about you shut the f.uck up. I could bang her right now if I wanted. But unlike some people at this table I have some f.ucking morals." I said raising my voice slightly. God I hate Ian.

"Oh could you? Why haven't you?"

I didn't say anything because I didn't know the answer. Well yes I did but I didn't want the boys to know. When I was with Riley I almost completely forget about the game. She makes me forget everything.

"Hey if you can f.uck her anytime you want how about we shorten the deadline?" Ian said, challenging me.

"Fine." I said clenching my fists under the table. Maybe a shorter deadline would help motivate me.

"Christmas."

"Deal."

"Alright ladies put the claws away. Now let's talk about a real problem. How the hell do I get Amy to leave me alone?" Elliott said drawing the attention away from the growing tension growing between me and the blonde boy across the table.
