Melissa's POV

**on phone call with her sister Jessica**

"Hey, could I just call you later? I'm on set right now," I tell my sister, narrowly avoiding telling her I'm pregnant in hair and makeup.
"Yeah sure, no problem. Mel?"
"Yes?"
"I love you," she says.
"Love you too Jess," I whisper then hang up.

That was close.

Chris's POV

Melissa calls around 7pm while I'm walking around downtown Vancouver saying she just wrapped for the day.

I head back into the parking lot and hop in my car.

When I pull up to set, I see her standing there in her usual after set clothes.

She gets in the car, "Jessica, my sister called and I almost told her what's happening."
"Oh, why didn't you?" I ask, looking at her.
"Because, I wanted to tell our parents before them."
"Good idea," I say while starting to drive.
"So, I have a later call time tomorrow, if you want to call them then."
"Yeah, I'm good with that."
"Okay," she whispers as she sips a little bit of her tea.

Melissa's POV

When I wake up, I immediately dread deciding to tell my parents today.
They could literally say or do anything about the news.

I roll out of bed and go take my medicine and put some cereal and milk in a bowl.
Sitting down on a stool, I grab a book from the island and start reading a little bit before Chris wakes up.

—about 3 hours later (9am)—

"Hey you, how long have you been up?" Chris asks, coming up behind me and kissing my neck gently.
I turn and look at the clock, "I don't know, like 3 hours?"
"That baby will not sleep when it's born if you never do," he says while making breakfast, pointing his spoon towards me.
I laugh a little then continue reading.

The next time I talk is when the phone starts ringing. I look over at Chris, who's already looking at me.
"I'll answer it," he says and I just nod.

He brings my phone over and presses accept.
"Melissa?" asks my moms voice.
"Hey mom," I say.
"Hi sweetie. How're you doing?" she asks.
"I'm doing okay. How're you and dad?"
"Good. Good. Jessica called and said you tried to get ahold of me?"
"Yes I did."
"What for darling?"
I inhale and glance over at Chris who just nods at me.
"Well" I start, "Chris and I are expecting a baby."
"Honey! That's wonderful! I'm so happy for you two. Jim! Did you hear that?"
I smile. Chris leans over and puts his arm around me.

After talking for awhile we say goodbye and hang up.
"That went well, right?" I say.
"I'm proud of you," Chris tells me.
"Now off to set," I groan.
