Melissa's POV

I've been trying to avoid going out in public while I'm pregnant to preserve my family's privacy. For the most part it's going good, but Willow has been begging me to take her to a dog shelter to visit some dogs, for awhile now.

"We have Drift and Farley," I tell her.

We're sitting on her bed. It's 10pm and she should be asleep.

"I see them everyday," she argues.
"Okay, have you asked daddy?"
"Dadda said the same thing."
"How much do you want to go?" I ask her.
"So much!"
"Okay, okay. I'll take you tomorrow."
"Yay! Yay! Yay!" She bounces up and down.

"It's time for bed, now," I say as I slowly push myself off of her bed.
I switch off the light and she whispers, "goodnight."
"Goodnight Lo, sleep well."

I shut the door quietly then make it down the hallway where Chris is sitting in the living room.
"Hey," I say as I sit next to him.
"Hi," he says, not looking up. "I just got an email from the real estate agent."
"And?"
He looks up. "We got the house."
"Oh my good—" My hand flies onto my mouth. "That's great."

"We'll be able to move in in about a week or two."
"Well, we better start packing soon," I say.
"Sure do."

"I'm taking Willow to the dog shelter tomorrow."
He glances at me.
"What?" I ask.
"Melissa—" he starts. "I can go with her."
"It's fine."
"There's going to be people everywhere."
"I can disguise myself," I argue.

"This is LA we're talking about."
"Chris, please. Just this one thing. I want to do this for Willow."
"You two are going to go there empty handed and then you're going to come back with another dog."
"Not true," I say.
So true. We definitely will.

Chris's POV

I knew this was going to happen. As they were coming down the hallway to the apartment. I could her Willow laughing and dog paws scampering.

Melissa unlocks the door and the dog comes rushing in.

Drift jumps up from his place by my feet. Farley starts hitting the balcony door with her paws.

I stand. "I said this was going to happen."
"I know," Melissa says. "You were right."

"Does she or he have a name?" I ask as I crouch down to pet the new dog.
"Her name is Perri," she tells me.
"Did you just come up with that?"
"No, what makes you think that?"
"I don't know, it just seems very...out there."
"No, she came with the name and both Willow and I agreed we liked it."
"I think it's cute. Perri."

Sorry this is so short.
