The hall was silent as we walked. Tension loomed between us as our steps gave melody to the silence.

I looked over at him. His dark eyes and hair, his beauty mark below his left eye, he was just a really pretty guy. In a Cole Sprouse kind of way.

"Hey, you okay? Something on my face or something?" He said, snapping me out of my trance.

I felt warmth creeping onto my cheeks. "Uh, no! No...it's just..." I turned to face him fully. "Thank you."

He smiled. "Sure. Sapphire's pissed everyone off at some time or another. Some more than others." He said, a distant look washing over him.

I nodded. Soon, we were outside my next class, English.

"Well, I guess we're back to stranger mode?" I asked.

He chuckled. "Not necessarily. I don't think anyone can be strangers after that."

I smiled. "I agree. Friends?" I held out my hand.

He eyed it for a while and said, "friends." taking it in his.

And I watched as he disappeared among the crowd of students who were now rushing to class, probably never to be seen again.
