Evelyn

I stood up, grabbing my crutch and walked over to the window.

The sky was a dull grey, and everything in its surrounding seemed gloomy.

I hadn't heard from Ethan since that day he stormed off in the hospital. Maybe that was good.

I always think of him having found a new girlfriend. A prettier, more talented one with longer hair and a sweet smile. She probably brightens up his life more than I ever did.

I bet they watch movies together, and laugh about jokes only they understand. Because that's true love, something some of us will never ever have.

I stared at the glass of water beside the pills on my bedside table. I hadn't taken any, and already felt a migrane coming on.

Did I miss him? No, I didn't.

Maybe?

I did. There was no way around the desire I felt for his touch, or to hear him laugh once more.

The desire for his love and affection, that someone else was enjoying right now.

I didn't know what to do.

So I did the only thing I could think of.

I called him, for the first time in what seemed like an eternity apart.

What I did might've been shocking.

But what shocked me even more was the fact that he actually picked up.
