Ethan

I watched as the brunette made her way down the hall, towards the bathroom.

Should I go after her?

The thought crossed my mind, but I figured I'd just give her space.

For some reason, her words hurt like a knife. Our friendship had deteriorated to ashes and was now nonexistent to her...and me, I guess.

Why do I even care?

She didn't care about me, and there was no way she would ever again.

I bit my lip, staring back into the empty hall, my mind racing.

But I care about her... Maybe I should take a chance?

I ran a hand through my hair and sighed.

Yup. I'm going after her.

I placed my phone back in my pocket and headed down the hall.

There was a musty scent of sweat and perfume that had been formed during the day. I now stood before the girls restroom door, my heart beating faster than ever before.

"Evelyn Velasquez..."

"Go away."

"I need to talk to you,"

"I said go away!"

"I will come in there!"

"Oh? I'd like to see you try."

I shrugged, pushing open the door.

I found her there, staring at me in shock. "Huh, you actually did it?"

I nodded. "Ev, can we please talk?"

She shook her head, crossing her arms.

"Um, no. There's nothing to say, Sapphire told me everything; I don't even know why you're still here."

I shut the door behind me and leaned against it. "Five minutes. Tops."

She nodded.

"Okay. Well, I don't have a clue about anything you're saying."

She rolled her eyes. "Um, I do and that's all that matters. You kissed the girl of your dreams and decided to forget all about your 'friend'."

"I...never kissed her. Never have, actually."

She laughed with a very noticeable hint of sarcasm. "You're telling me you haven't kissed Sapphire Williams?"

"Why would I do that?"

She pulled out her phone and tapped a bit, shoving it later in my face.

"That's you, isn't it?"

Freaking photoshopped!

"What the freaking hell?! No I didn't! Can't you see this stuff is fake?"

She blinked and stared intently at the screen.

"You're...right."

She looked back up at me. "But that doesn't mean you haven't kissed her before! I know you have, and you told me. Plus, she also said you want nothing to do with me."

"Nothing to do with you? What the- Ev, seriously? You believed her lies? Anyway, why does it matter if I've kissed her or not? She's not my dream girl anymore!"

"Oh yeah?! Then who's that, player boy?!"

"I'm not a player!"

"Sure! You play hearts and break them, right? You leave people hanging and walk away when they need you the most!"

"I never left you! You needed space!"

"Space?! What the hell is that supposed to mean?!"

I leaned down on the counter and placed my head in my hands.

There was finally silence in the tensional atmosphere.

"Ev, she's not my dream girl. I realized who she was just the other day, and-"

"Then who is she? Who is the girl that made you run away like that, Ethan! Away from your friend."

I stared into her eyes, biting my lip.

"They're the same person."
