Hannah's POV:
(Flashback: 9 years ago - Hannah is 15, Tyler is 16) (2005)
I stepped into the church, excited to see the choir and percussionist performing as everyone entered. This was one of my favorite parts. We are supposed to be walking around, greeting everyone we knew and introducing ourselves to anyone new. But, I always kept to myself to watch the people on stage perform. Always. I also always sat in the same spot, right in the view of the percussionist because he was so interesting to watch- WAIT A SECOND. There is someone in my spot right now, you have to be kidding me.
"MOM" I exclaimed, tugging on her sleeve as she greeted people.
"What's wrong?" She asked, shifting my baby sister in her arms. My sister was just born a few months ago. I was an only child until then.
"There's a boy sitting in my spot," I glared at the boy, well at the back of his head.
"Honey, you don't own that spot. We can sit behind him, or we could ask him and his family if we could sit with them." She shrugged at me with a glimpse of concern in her eyes. She knows that I love sitting there and watching the man play music. She knows that I might have an anxiety/panic attack if this changes.
"I will go ask them now." I said. I was not reluctant at all as I marched my way over to the pew where I like to sit. My mom followed, reminding me to be kind about it. I did not want to be, but I know I had to be. He doesn't know I like to sit there. "Excuse me?" The boy turned around. His family stood up and so did he, immediately shoving his hands in his pockets and shifting his weight onto one leg. He was with an older woman, probably his mom, an older man, probably his dad, and two younger boys.
"Hello," My mother quickly said. "My daughter would like to know if we could sit here. This is where we sit every Sunday because she likes to watch the percussionist play." She said switching arms that the baby was in and pointing to the man that just hit the chimes in the song.
"Of course, we will move over. My son also likes to watch him, but we are usually here Sunday evenings not mornings. We will always be here in the mornings now. It is so nice to meet you, my name is Kelly." She held her hand out and shook my mom's hand before moving her family down. My mom shook her hand and introduced us.
"I'm Pattie, this is my daughter Hannah and my other daughter, Reagan."
I smiled a small smile and sat down next to the boy, leaving enough room for someone else to sit between us because how awkward would it be if I sat close to him? He seems weird. He doesn't speak.
"These are my sons Zack, Jay, and Tyler." The first two boys waved as Kelly said their name, but the third, Tyler, did not. He just shifted his sitting position so that his legs were crossed. He is literally sitting like a girl. I knew he was weird. I chuckled at myself.
"Hi Tyler," my mom said with a small smile. He finally acknowledged and waved back at us. No smile though. "Thank you for letting my daughter watch the percussionist with you!"
Tyler nodded at me, "No problem. I love watching him, it is so relaxing.. and interesting, really." He added. I nodded as he spoke, so he continued. "The entrance music is my favorite, because he plays the piano. Also, he has the most roles during the beginning. Whenever the service begins, he only has small parts. Which I think is unfair. He deserves more because percussion is really important for a performan-" He got cut off by the pastor beginning the service.
