chapter 9

Tyler's POV

It's been two days since Ruby and I's first date. I left shortly after eating my grilled cheese, after a lot of making out to be honest. It was amazing. I have been working on recording a new album with Josh, so I haven't been able to hangout with Ruby as much as I would be hoping to. But, she's been busy too. She's been hanging out with her old friend from college, her roommate in college. Her name is Jenn. I like her, but I think she is a bad influence on Ruby. I know that sounds so protective and dad-like of me, but it's true. Jenn drinks, does drugs, sleeps around. Ruby doesn't but I get scared that she will when she's with Jenn. She never really texts me back often when she's with Jenn, and I'm hoping it just means she's having a good time with her friend. I've been waiting for a reply from her for like 4 hours now... 

My phone finally chirped, but it wasn't a text. Ruby tweeted. 

"@rubyroyalty: Thank gosh for your existence @jennxpenn, you are the creamer to my coffee (image from above attached)" 

I smiled at the picture. Ruby looks so happy. I love when she's happy, even if I'm not the one making her happy. 

She finally texted me back. 

Sorry Ty, we were at the mall and just got back to my apartment. she leaves town 2nite, so dw we can hangout then. plus ur busy anyways right?

im never 2 busy for u rubes. i do want to see u tho, i miss u

I'm excited now that I know I can see her later. It's crazy how a simple text can make my mood change so fast. 

"Dude, why are you smiling so hard?" Josh asked from the chair beside me. 

"Oh, Ruby and I are going to hangout later. I haven't seen her for two days" I said, playing back the song on my laptop that we just sort of finished. 

"You act like two days is a long time. We just lived with her on a tiny bus for like 3 months straight. She's probably sick of us." Josh joked, hitting his drums. 

"No, I don't think so. Plus, us hanging out is different now." I said, smiling to myself. 

"Did you guys have sex or something?" He questioned me in all seriousness. 

"No! Dude, what the heck, we just had our first date" I said, laughing at him. But, also, thinking about it. Sex with Ruby would be amazing. But, it's too soon. 

"Yeah, but you've known each other for 9 years. You're not new too each other. Sex now wouldn't be weird..." He trailed off, thinking before finishing his sentence. "You should do it." 

"Well, I'm not rushing into anything. And I don't want to rush her either. Yeah, we've known each other but not in this romantic way. The romanticism is still new to us, especially her. Sex isn't even a thought at this moment, bro." 

I sat back after saying that, thinking. Does Ruby want sex? Wait, I don't know. She did get on my lap last time I was at her house, kind of in a sexual way. And she talked about bringing my boner back... but that was in a joking way, right? I HAVE NO CLUE UGH. Now I'm all confused....
