Tyler's POV

The band started taking requests, so many different songs were played and people were dancing. I'm happy people are having a good time. I'm also happy that Ruby seems to be enjoying herself too. We haven't spent too much time with one another at this BBQ, but that's okay. We have the rest of our lives to be together. She was hanging out with a few of her college friends that I invited and they were all dancing. It was absolutely adorable. I smiled the whole time that I watched her.

"You really love her, don't you?" My grandpa said to me, catching me off guard and throwing his arm over my shoulders.

"We haven't said that. But yeah, I do. I think I have for awhile now." I said, honestly. He smiled at me and chuckled.

"Ruby! Save a dance for me!" My dad said, marching his way up from his seat and over to Ruby. I face palmed myself, embarrassed. He always does this.

"Get on up here Chris!" Ruby shouted, opening her arms as an invitation. I love that she just accepts the weirdness and embarrassing actions of my dad. The song changed to a Funkytown and Ruby danced with my dad. It was a sight to see, let me tell you. Eventually, they dragged my mom into the dance as well. And then my brothers and sister. My whole family was dancing with Ruby and she was smiling/laughing the whole time.

"Ty, come dance with me." Ruby said, making eye contact with me and smiling but also still dancing. I smiled and immediately obeyed her, coming to the dance floor with my best moves. I grabbed her and pulled her close to me for a quick peck before we both started dancing like crazy people. We danced for two or three songs before she stopped. "I have been dancing for an hour, I need a break!" She said, out of breath.

"Let's go sit down?" I asked, intertwining our fingers. She nodded and lead us to a nearby table. We sat across from each other, hands still intertwined, as she chugged a bottle of water. She saved me a sip and handed it to me, which I downed quickly.

"You're so cute." She said, looking at me and poking my nose.

"And you're so beautiful." I said, returning the action. We sat and talked there alone for like an hour before people started leaving so we had to get up to say our goodbyes. Eventually, everyone was gone except the people who lived at the house.

"So Kelly, you tricked me." Ruby said jokingly, as she helped carry in some dishes back into the house with my mom.

"I had to. I promise I won't do it again!" I heard my mom say before they disappeared into the house. I started picking up some trash and cleaning up a bit. I stopped when I felt two small arms wrap around my waist from behind. I knew the touch and immediately turned in her grasp, to look at her. She was just smiling up at me, adorably.

"What's got you so smiley?" I asked, putting a few loose strands of her hair behind her ear.

She giggled, "You. I honestly never saw this happening between us but I am so glad that it did." She said, looking up at me and still smiling. I bit my lip and also smiled down at her.

"Trust me, me too." I leaned in and she met me in the middle where our lips could collide. We kissed passionately as her hands moved from my waist to the back of my neck, playing with my hair and my hands moved to cup her face. We stayed that way for almost a full minute before getting interrupted.

"Get a room, losers!" Jay, my youngest brother, said and made a disgusted look. We all laughed and continued to clean up.

About half an hour later, everything was clean and back to normal. Ruby was sitting on my couch, watching basketball with my dad. Her legs were crossed and she was smiling at the screen. I came over and sat next to her, draping my arm around her shoulders. "So, what would you like to do for the rest of the night? It's only," I paused to check my phone for the time. "almost 6."

She smiled and shrugged her shoulders, "Whatever you want to do. I don't mind, as long as it's together."

I smiled SO BIG at her and hugged her the best I could from the way we were sitting. She hugged back and I pecked her lips. "Want to go back to your place?" I stopped and got closer to her ear to whisper, "So we can be alone."

She giggled and bit her lip, nodding 'yes.' So we got up and gathered our things, ready to leave. She said goodbye and thank you to my parents, who were sad that she was 'leaving so soon.' She hugged everyone and we walked to my car. We drove in a comfortable silence for most of the way, holding hands and singing along to songs on the radio. When we were almost there, Ruby squeezed my hand and said, "You should spend the night tonight, you know. To celebrate our coupley-ness." She said, giggling at her own made up word.

I immediately got excited and happy, "That would be great! Yes, yes I will do that."

She smiled, "Okay good. My bed is big enough for the two of us."

I smiled and thought for a second. We haven't had a 'sleepover' in a few years. Besides on tour, where we slept in separate bunks. But back in the day, we would sleep in the same bed all the time. We wouldn't touch throughout the night but we would always somehow wake up cuddling. I remember the first time, she was so embarrassed. I had already been crushing on her so I was happy about it, but she kept apologizing and being awkward about it. So then we decided together that it wasn't weird and it felt good to cuddle. We were 16 and 17, so we hadn't had much cuddling yet in our lives. We began having little cuddle sessions together which went on for years, eventually involving Josh on the other side of her and sometimes Mark at her feet. We stopped when college started and she got a boyfriend, that's the last time we slept in the same bed. I miss it and I hope she does too. But now, it will be a little different because we aren't just two happy teenage best friends anymore. We are two adults in a relationship with one another.
