Hannah's POV  (2008)

"Wait, so that is a real thing? National Lame Duck Day?" I questioned Tyler, as we sat on his bed.

"Yes! February 6th, it is a legit thing." He chuckled, rolling onto his back from his previous sitting position.

"As it should be! Go lame ducks!" I exclaimed.

"Today! And everyday!" Tyler said, excitedly. We both laughed.

We have been best friends for a few years now and it has been amazing. We hangout like every day and when we are not together, we are texting.

"I hate that I have to get a job," I groaned also laying onto my back on his bed. We were both laying next to each other, staring at the ceiling.

He looked at me, "Yes but money is great. I hate working at the restaurant but I can at least buy my own Taco Bell afterwards."

"You right. My job is cooler than waiting tables though," I joked with him an nudged his shoulder jokingly.

"I KNOW! I'm jealous you get to work at the music store but hey, pass me that discount." He nudged me back.

I giggled, "Of course I will, Tyjo, you're the musical one here being in a band and all."

He looked at me, "That is true. Hey, how come you get to call me a nickname but I don't have one for you?"

"I don't know, Tyjo, you aren't as smart as me to come up with one." I joked.

He scoffed, "Pfft, yes I can."

"Let's hear it then, what shall you call me?" I moved positions so I was now leaning on my knees looking down at him. He thought for a minute.

"Got it. I will call you Ruby." He smiled at me. I smiled back.

"I like the sound of that."

Tyler's POV:

(one year later - 2009)

"C'mon dude, our show is like two days away. You can't just cancel on me now..." I trailed off on the phone with the drummer from my band.

"I'm sorry dude, I have a life too." He hung up.

"UGH!" I shouted, throwing my phone on the bed. Why can't people just stick to their word anymore? I don't know what I'm going to do. We can't perform without a drummer. Crap. I picked my phone back up to call Ruby. She is who I call when I am feeling any type of way, especially mad. I am so mad right now. The phone rang twice before she picked up.

"Hello?" Her voice said, already immediately calming me down.

I sighed and sat down on my bed, "Hey Ruby, I have a small problem."

"What's wrong?" I could hear the concern in her voice. I love how much she genuinely cares about me, my family, my music. She would do anything for me.

"He is ditching me again, right before the show. It's in two days. Where am I going to get a new drummer that quick?"

She paused before making a 'Hmmm' noise. "First off, I'm sorry he sucks. He's missing out. Second off, I think I have a solution. I work with this guy at the music store who plays the drums in the store sometimes. He's really good. And he plays in a small band with his friends, so he already has his own set. Let me call him up and ask him. If he says yes, you guys have to practice together like nonstop starting tonight for the next two days."

I stood up, relieved. "Yes, please, Ruby. You are the best. You are saving me right now. Call him and ask then let me know."

"Okay, Tyjo! Will do!" I could tell she was smiling through the phone.

"Who is this guy? You've never spoke about him." I quiestioned, before she hung up.

"His name is Josh. Josh Dun!"

Ruby's POV (2012)

I was eating the soup I just made myself in my apartment when I heard my door swing open. I was very surprised, enough to spill my spoonful onto my lap. I yelped and stood up quickly before Tyler and Josh barged into the room. "You guys scared me so bad!" I exclaimed, patting at my new stain on my lap with a wet napkin.

"Sorry, Ruby! We just ran here." Tyler said out of breath.

"Yeah, I need to workout more" Josh said, hands on his knees, gasping for breath.

Tyler made his way to my fridge to get a water for him and Josh. He opened it and took a sip before handing it to Josh, who also took a sip and finished the bottle.

I laughed at them, "Why did you run here though? You miss me that much?"

"WE HAVE SOMETHING TO TELL YOU!" Josh yelled loudly, shocking you a bit. Tyler slapped him on the chest giving him the 'dude settle down' look.

I chuckled, "Well then tell m-" I got cut off by Tyler shouting.

"WE SIGNED A RECORD DEAL WITH FUELED BY RAMEN!" He picked me up and spun me around.

"OH MY GOD GUYS HOLY CRAP OH MY GOD!" I exclaimed, as Tyler kept spinning me around. Josh joined in and picked us both up, jumping up and down. I felt tears swell up into my eyes. Tyler set me down, looking at me. I grabbed both sides of his face lightly and made him look me in the eyes, "I am so proud of you." I said.

He smiled and pulled me into a hug, "I couldn't have done it without you, Ruby."
