I've stumbled upon a new lucid dreaming method. It's supposed to be a modified version of the WILD technique, though it reminds me more of WBTB (if you guys forgot what these abbreviations meant in my absence, remember, I wrote a chapter on it). It starts with setting an automatic shut-off alarm for 4-5 hours after you fall asleep (preferably have it shut off after a few seconds). You don't want a shrill or startling tone, but something that will just make you conscious. After that point, also set it to go off every 10-20 minutes afterwards. Once the alarm wakes you up the first time, don't move. Let the alarm go off, then focus on falling back asleep. Once you do, you might immediately have a lucid dream, in which case you pretty much just did WBTB, which is great. If you don't, though, since the alarm goes off every 10-20 minutes after the original sounding, there's a high chance it will either 1) wake you up again and let you perform something similar to WBTB or 2) seep into your dream, at which point you may recall setting the alarm during your waking life, which will cause you to become lucid (similar to DILD). Note that this could take a few attempts, since you have to find a good volume and tone for the alarm.
