at this question, ten visibly stiffened.
"can we... not talk about it ?"
johnny was a little disappointed that he wasn't gonna get any answers, but he nodded and didn't press ten further on the subject.
besides, he was sure there was much more about his new friend than this.
"so... what kind of music do you listen to ?" johnny asked, switching to a safer subject.
ten tilted his head to the right and thought for a while before speaking, "umm nothing special really, i do listen to the usual trending music, but i prefer r&b over pop."
"oh, i usually listen to lofi stuff. i find mainstream pop overrated, but some are still pretty good... like bazzi," johnny replied, nodding.
"you listen to bazzi ?? holy shit i love his cosmic album !!!" ten gushed, chattering excitedly all of a sudden, "people only know 'mine' or 'beautiful' but to be honest the whole damn album issa bop."
johnny smiled fondly at ten's sudden enthusiasm when it came to music. it was completely different from his somewhat distant and guarded attitude earlier, and johnny found himself liking this side of ten more than the other.
"ah, i'll make sure to listen to the full album later," johnny said pleasantly, "oh talking about bazzi, i really like his song 'alone'."
"oh wow that's my bop too," ten grinned, "but 'sober' is still my shit."
"oh 'sober' is hella good too," johnny commented, giving his genuine opinion.
"do you listen to blackbear ? i'm honestly so into his songs i justㅡ" ten pulled at his face with his hands, scrunching his lips together.
johnny found it adorable.
but he shook his head, "nope, i don't, but you should also listen to lofi ! it really calms me down and i think you'll like it too, like listen to 'in love with a ghost's music, they're all great."
ten thinned his lips, considering, "sure ! i'll try some lofi when i get back."
"and i'll listen to some of blackbear's music. i heard his songs are pretty chill."
"yep they are," ten nodded approvingly, grinning, "you have great taste in music, johnny. and you're really open-minded, too."
before johnny could say anything back, ten continued talking,
" i really like that about you."
6:24 pm.
johnny chatted with ten for a couple more minutes, before he felt a little hungry.
"are you down for dinner together ?" johnny questioned the smaller boy.
"i don't think it'll be very polite to step into a cafe or restaurant in drenched clothing so i'll pass," ten chuckled, getting up.
"i mean, i could wait for you here while you go back to change," johnny offered, standing up with the shorter.
he didn't know why he was so desperate for ten's attention. they'd literally just met, but ten's mysteriousness intrigued johnny in a way that he couldn't quite explain.
"it's alright. i'm sure this won't be the last time we'll meet," ten's expression didn't change, but his dark eyes told a different story as they twinkled at the taller.
"i guess..." johnny sighed in defeat.
"thanks for your coat, by the way," ten said as he took off the clothing around his shoulders and handed it back to the taller with a small smile, "so... johnny, i guess i'll see you around."
johnny couldn't wipe that goofy grin off his face,"see you, ten."
whenever he was within ten's presence, johnny felt like he was being sucked into a black hole in space. in johnny's eyes, despite his delicate appearance, ten had a bold and strong personality.
it was as if nothing could ever truly touch him and hurt him.
like a small pretty flower bursting into bloom in the pouring rain.
but behind that sassy, stubborn character, johnny could tell that ten's hiding something. he seemed to have taken a liking to a boy with too many aspects of himself left unspoken.
he's one beautiful mystery, johnny decided.

the music talk at the start was actually based on a conversation between me and my friend lmao she listens to the songs i recommend but she's not into kpop cause she's too obsessed over blackbear lol
anyway i hope you've enjoyed this chapter im so sorry for not updating for a couple of days when i promised to give yall daily updates,,, i have a performance coming up next week so my schedule is packed full with practices and rehearsals
