he was here.
namjoon was finally here, and almost everything was perfect. jin was more excited than he'd been in a long while.
of course, he couldn't really deal with the mess that the younger boys had created, so he just decided to leave it, but he'd finished cooking despite the butterflies that had been pinching in his tummy the entire time. and yet, when he opened the door to see the familiar masked boy, they diminished altogether.
"namjoon," rushed out jin's breath, "you're here!"
chuckling, namjoon smugly cocked his head to one side. "well, where else would i be?"
jin shrugged, grabbing the giant by the arm and pulling him into the warmth of the apartment. "i don't know, you might've gotten lost, or something? my apartment block is quite discreet."
he didn't notice the pinkish mist of embarrassment settled atop of namjoon's frozen nose (he was too busy trying to get him out of his coat and shoes), but if he had, he would've seen for sure just how lost namjoon got.
"pssh, lost? please. i'm kim namjoon," the younger joked, the uncertainty in his voice causing jin to doubt him.
"exactly..?" with a hard playful punch to the shoulder, jin was shoved into a fit of giggles. "just kidding, just kidding, i swear!"
************
jin already had the food out on the table, waiting to be served, and he ushered namjoon to a seat after calling the boys. he didn't expect such thunderous footsteps from three pubescent boys, but they alerted him of his arrival, and he starting dishing out the steaming portions.
taehyung didn't hesitate to dig in, his hamster cheeks already full of rice before they others had picked up their spoons. "thanks hyung," came his muffled gratitude, with the other three chorusing the same, and the room was filled with the awkward sound of eating.
not for long, though. the warm yellow light enveloped the boys and soon enough, the beginnings of small talks turned into conversation and banter between the five boys. jimin lost his shyness, eating normally in front of jeongguk, laughing loudly with his mouth full as endless teasing was passed from person to person - at one point, even from jeongguk to jin.
namjoon had removed his mask to eat - keeping it on would've made it extremely dirty and would've been to difficult to manage, but knowing that jin would have wanted to feed him, he came prepared - like last time, when they ate omelette together, he tied a napkin around his nose, letting it droop down to cover exactly what the mask would've covered. he looked stupid, but that he knew, and he laughed when everyone else did, his crescent eyes shining.
and as he maneuvered each spoon up to his mouth, jin tried his best to catch even the smallest glimpse of his nearly-date, but all to no avail. it was hopeless, but jin managed to lose himself in namjoon's mysterious features anyway, being jerked back into action when jimin called his name -
- about five times."hyung. hyung. jin hyung! hyuuuung... hello?! kim seokjin?"
"hit him, jimin," taehyung urged.
a smack resonated around the room, sharply followed by a yelp.
"what the heck, jimin?!"
"sorry hyung, you weren't listening, and tae told me to do it."
"did not!"
namjoon chuckled, jin immediately looking up to catch his gaze. "what did you want to say, jiminie?"
"i was gonna ask if we could go to the park, is that okay?"
