10 - Only Ever A Dream

I woke up in a panic. I was breathing heavily and sweat was covering me from head to toe.

Sarah looked up from her phone and said, "Good! You're up. It's 3 in the afternoon which means you slept for over 2 hours."

I sat up slowly and shakily asked, "Wh-what?"

Sarah leaned forward and looked me over. "Cassie. Are you alright?"

I shook myself awake and answered, "Yeah, yeah. I just had a bad dream is all."

I swiped the little tears in my eyes away and grabbed my phone. I immediately opened up my messages and clicked on Jungkook's name.

Sarah looked concerned. "Well, what happened? You look extremely shook up."

I ignored her and continued to text him:

Jungkook

Hey. I just wanted to say I'm
looking forward to tonight.
Stay safe please. And don't
do anything stupid.

I sent it. Sarah looked over my shoulder to read the message. Then she turned to look at me.

"Did something happen?"

I nodded.

"Was he in your dream?"

I nodded again and gnawed on my lower lip.

"Did he...did he hurt himself?"

I let out a short whimper and nodded my head once more.

"Cassie. It was a DREAM!" She squeezed my shoulders gently. "It didn't happen in real life. He would never do anything like that. Not as long as he's got you."

I smiled a bit and stood up. As soon as I did, my phone rung. I looked down. He was calling me. I took a deep breath and answered the call. "Hey."

"Hey!" he responded enthusiastically, "What's up?"

I walked to my room and Sarah followed closely behind me.

"Just about to take a shower. What about you?"

He sighed on the other end. "I'm just hanging out with the guys."

I heard several other voices on the other end.

"Hi, Cassie!" a bunch of them yelled.

I smiled slightly and started to gather my things for my shower and bring them into the bathroom. Someone grabbed the phone from Jungkook.

I heard him whine, "Stop, Jimin. Give it back!"

Jimin laughed. "So, you're going out with Jungkook tonight, huh?"

I sheepishly grinned and giggled a little. "Well, yeah."

He laughed. "So I guess I'll see ya later then."

"I guess so. You guys live literally right nextdoor to me," I reminded him.

Jungkook was still fussing for his phone.

"Ok, ok. You're boyfriend really wants to talk to you. Bye, Cassie," Jimin laughed and handed the phone back to Jungkook.

"Cass?" he asked.

"Yeah?" I answered.

"I'll let you get your shower." He grew really quiet all of a sudden. "I'm not gonna do anything stupid, I promise. I would never. I love-" He paused and the silence grew between us as I anxiously waited for his next words. "where I'm taking you tonight," he rapidly finished.

I smiled halfheartedly. "I can't wait! See you at 7!"

He hesitated a bit, "Uh. Actually. Is there any way I can pick you up at 6 instead?"

I thought for a second before I told him, "Yeah, sure. That's fine. Um. Ok. See ya then?"

He giggled lightly. Yes. Jungkook giggled. "You're so cute."

"Not as cute as you," I flirted.

"Oh, shut up. You're the cutest one in this conversation," he retorted.

Jimin grabbed the phone again and said into the mic, "You know what? I'm gonna settle this right here. Right now. I was the cutest one in this conversation. Just sayin'. See ya later."

"Ha, alright. Tell my boyfriend I said 'bye'."

I hung up. I took a deep breath before quickly turning around to face Sarah. I nearly screamed. "Sarah, I need to be ready a whole hour earlier!"
