Chapter 21

Your P.O.V

After Christmas was over, we sat in bed most of Sunday thinking of what to do next about Ryuzaki.

"(Y/N), if my hunch is correct, I'm assuming that L will invite us to join the task force next. He'd want to keep an eye on us and see if he catches anything. Just be prepared if he does ask us, we will agree to this too,"Light said now sitting at his desk.

"That asshole must be killed, but we can't rush into this, one mistake then we're caught," he said folding his arms. We stayed silent for a moment, I wasn't sure of what to say, I wasn't as good as making smart moves like him.

"How are we going to find out his name?" I asked. Light didn't reply, he was thinking of a plan, I could tell. But then he slammed his fists on his desk, his hair covering his eyes. "All we can do for now is 'help' him and try to gain his trust," Light said tensely.

I turned away to face the window, I didn't like it when he was mad. "H-how long will we have to stay at the task force?" I asked in a bit of a whisper. "I don't know!!" Light screamed at me. I shut my mouth and fidgeted, these moments were always so awkward.

Just then, we saw something fall to the ground outside our window. Light stood up to investigate what just happened. His mouth opened with shock then he ran out the bedroom to grab something outside. He came back in with another death note.

He was smirking, and flipping through the pages,"This must have been Misa's notebook. Her shinigami must have dropped it here so we'd pick it up".
Light made me touch the notebook incase any shinigami would show up later.

After a few minutes of testing it to see if this was a real one, a different, purple-haired shinigami stood before us. She introduced herself as Rem.

"I personally do not like you Light Yagami, I in fact would love to kill you. Although Misa would have wanted me to give this notebook to the real Kira, so I'm letting her have her last request. It's all yours now, you're lucky she was on your side," Rem said.

Light turned to me, an evil grin spread across his face. "This will help us from suspicion," he said. I didn't know what he was planning so I asked.

Light then explained,"Now that we have two notebooks, I can give this to someone else who will fulfil their duty as another Kira while L will be watching us 24/7 after we join him. He will soon realise we have nothing to do with it and let us go, then we can kill the new Kira with our original notebook and have twice the power than before".

I then asked,"But how do we kill L?". Light's smile went wider. "We will make the new Kira do the eye deal and spot L for him/herself. They will do it for us," Light said pulling me into a hug. Wow he really was a genius, I do hope this goes as planned.

The next morning we heard a knock on our door. It was Monday but we didn't have to get up, we had another week of Christmas holiday yet. Light groaned and got out of bed, I followed him from behind then saw L in the living room. Mrs Yagami invited him in.

"Light, (Y/N), I've been meaning to talk to you about something important for a while now," L said. Mrs Yagami left the room for our privacy.

"I would appreciate it if you two would join me in this investigation," he continued. Light tried to hide his smile, he guessed right. "Yes, of course we'll help you Ryuzaki. I'd love to catch Kira and bring him to justice," Light lied.

I nodded then simply said,"Me too". L stared at us both for a while then said,"Great. Would you two kindly join me at work tomorrow then? I'll give you the address so we can meet".

With that, he left the house. We now know where he stays, and we'll have to start acting innocent a lot more now. Light was trying to find a perfect candidate for the next Kira. He was trying to find someone who was a supporter, and who had the same sense for justice as him. He wanted someone smart but not too smart to trick him.

He finally found someone suitable for the job, Teru Mikami. We've never met him before but we know he supports. Light planned to deliver him the second notebook and some instructions on how to use it and how to make the eye deal. He was referring to himself as 'God' in the instructions, he knew Mikami would gladly accept since he thought of Kira as his God.

"When will you make this guy kill L then?" I asked Light. He paused for a moment then answered,"Not straight away. It will seem too suspicious that he'd die when we've just joined the task force". I nodded in agreement, we just had to be patient.
