The next morning Light got up to pack some food for the picnic, he told me we wouldn't be having it until near sunset but he went to get a head start on it anyway. I offered to help him pack the food, picnic blanket etc, but he insisted on doing it himself.

He even insisted on making me breakfast. "Light I can do it, you're already busy packing,"I said getting off the sofa. He sat me back down then said,"No no, I'll do it for you. You just relax and watch something". He passed me the TV remote so I switched through several channels to see what took my interest.

He came back into the sitting room a few minutes later with a plate of pancakes. I smiled and ate it all up appreciatively, he was certainly a better cook than me. We sat down together, cuddled up. I glanced at the clock on the wall then gasped.

"Light, what about college? Shouldn't you be leaving soon?"I asked a bit worried. He bit his lip a little and glanced at the picnic basket, I raised an eyebrow then said,"I won't eat the food while you're out". He laughed a little nervously, what was he hiding?

But he got up to get ready for college anyway, it seems like he trusts me now. When he was gone I decided to use the notebook for him, he was always busy in the evenings writing down names so I want to do him a favour since there's nothing else to do here. Mikami still worked for us, but I didn't know when that would last.

I spent an hour writing down names then stopped because my hand started cramping a little, I sat up in my chair then stretched out my arm. I decided to do a little cleaning, the only mess that was left here were the plates from breakfast this morning but I wanted to clean the whole apartment too. It was tricky with one good arm but I vacuumed all the floors then polished every window, smiling at my reflection.

I alphabetised all the films and books we had, not a fun activity but I knew Light was a neat person so I did it for him. After I was done, there were two more hours of alone time left. I made myself a sandwich then started using the notebook again.

I was concentrating so much that I didn't even realise him walking in through the front door. When he noticed me writing he smiled and said,"Thanks (Y/N)". I smiled back and watched him take off his coat and put his shoes by the door.

He then noticed I cleaned everything and smiled again. "See? This is why I want you to stay home, you add a magic touch to everything,"Light said hugging me gently. I laughed a little then replied,"You're welcome".

We sat down in the sitting room then decided to watch a film before going out for the picnic. He stood up and walked over beside the TV then bent down to choose a film to watch. I saw him smile again, he's noticed I've organised it too.

"Which film then?"he asked me running his fingers down the pile. I shrugged then said,"Pick any, random". He closed his eyes then said,"Okay, random". He picked out a film while his eyes were closed, I laughed a bit. "I meant that you could choose one that you want silly," I said. He smiled and put the disc in the TV anyway.

When the film ended I pulled on my shoes and a jacket, ready to go out, while Light did the same. He then took hold of the picnic basket with one hand and held my good arm with the other.

We walked along the road slowly, holding hands gently. When we reached the park he pointed to a cosy looking spot by a tree. We sat underneath the tree, Light started unpacking everything while I watched the leaves and flower petals blow around us.

He smiled and said,"You're so cute
(Y/N)". He plucked a pale-pink daisy from the grass and tucked it in my hair on one side. I blushed a little then he served out the food. He chose my favourite flavoured crisps, lemonade, a sandwich, some red grapes and sweets.

I licked my lips a little, ready to tuck in. "Thanks Light, this looks great!"I said. We started sharing the food. In the distance we saw the sun setting, creating a nice orangey glow around us.

When we finished eating Light started fidgeting and glancing at the picnic basket every few seconds. I was about to ask him if he was okay but then he started saying,"(Y/N)...I-"

Someone then interrupted us and said,"What a coincidence seeing you two here". We recognised the voice and looked up to see L standing there, still slouching and his hands in his pockets.

"Ryuzaki?" Me and Light chorused. He smiled a little then glanced at the picnic we were having. "Well I should be going, I don't want to disturb you," L says ready to leave.

Light took a deep breath then said,"Want some cake Ryuzaki?". L and I stared at him in surprise, Light would always get angry and shoo him away. "It's not strawberry cake, but still sweet,"Light said offering him a plate.

L accepted then sat down with us, he noticed my arm was in a cast but didn't say anything about it. After a few minutes he smiled properly then thanked us for the cake and waved goodbye. We watched him leave in silence, it was now starting to get a little late. Light fidgeted and bit his lip, then started packing away the picnic.

On the walk home I held onto his arm and asked,"So..you were being nice to L?". Light paused then said,"I was not". I laughed a little and he just smiled.

When we got inside Light said,"I'll just prepare dinner for you". I nodded then skipped up to our bedroom. I stood in front of the mirror and brushed my hair, then slipped the daisy back in. I heard the door open, I was only gone a minute, dinner can't be done surely?

I turned around then saw Light crouching down on the floor in front of me. "(Y/N), I really enjoy your company and I admire you so much. I love you, will you marry me?" He asked opening a tiny box. I gasped when I saw the engagement ring.

My eyes watered a little then I hugged him hard making him fall backwards. We both laughed and got back on our feet. He slipped the ring on my finger and whispered,"I'll take that as a yes then". He kissed me gently on the lips while I wrapped my arms round his neck.

I didn't think I would fall for him after he kidnapped me, I assumed anyone who'd do that would be for a bad purpose. Perhaps he was bad, but he loves me, that's enough to prove he's human. I don't know whether we've outsmarted the others for good, free from suspicion to carry on with our lives. But I did know one thing, as long as my future was with him, then I don't mind.
