Admiring Stares

Next day
Stefan's POV:
Yesterday was pretty cool I'm not gonna lie. I've become one of the most popular kids in the school and it was all because of our first football game. I'm currently in 4th period right now which is biology, meaning I have lunch next with most of my friends. Y'all don't know how bored I am in this class. All we do is write down what the teacher is showing us on the board. *ding ding ding* The bell finally rings. I walk out head down the hall to the stairs heading towards the cafeteria. When I got there most of the boys and some of their girlfriends are already there. "Ayyyeeee STEFAN!!" Said Tyler. I start to greet all of them and then I noticed Elena sitting by herself while Matt was flirting with some other girls. As much as I care about Matt cause he's my friend, I also care about Elena. I tell my friends I'm about to go eat over there and they said it was cool. But then Tyler came up to me. "Yo Stef, do you know if anything is going on between Matt and Caroline?" I start remembering how he's dating her. "Nah bro, but I'm trying to go see if Elena's ok." I say which causes him to smirk at me. "Don't even start." I say while playfully shoving him away from me. I look back at Elena and she seems so sad about something. I stood there for a second to admire her until I was interrupted. " Oooooh Stefan's staring at Elena. I wonder what that could mean. Well Matt and her are over so..." Klaus says which causes me to spin around facing him. "Whoa whoa whoa. First if I was just seeing if she's ok. Second what do you mean they broke up?" I ask. "I mean they broke up man they just didn't fit well together." Klaus Says. "I'll catch you later bro." I say walking away towards the table Elena is sitting at. "Hey stranger." I say cautiously Incase she wants to be left alone. She looks up and a smile forms on her face. Which makes me happy. And now that I know she's not dating anyone maybe.... no I should give her some time. "Well hello there Mr. Superstar. How have you been?" She asked. I smiled and said, " I'm fine thank you, and you?" "I'm great I got you to keep me company."  She says causing me to blush a little. "So I heard about the break up..." I say regretting it instantly when a frown appears on her face. " uh yeah we just weren't meant to be gf and bf, but we decided to stay as friends." She said. " That's great; well you got any other boys in mind?" I ask wanting to know who. "Actually yeah. He has these beautiful green emerald eyes, sharp jawline, and has perfect hair." Elena says looking into my eyes. Then I think of her describing another boy which kind of hurts and is making me feel a bit jealous. "Oh, I hope y'all get together." I say wanting her to be happy with or without me. "Me too." She says. "You know what Elena? Would you like to be my..."

Elena's POV:
It's now 4th period and I just broke up with Matt and I feel somewhat relieved. We're still friends too. He seemed fine with the whole break up situation.

Earlier 
I walk into the school excited to start a new day. That's of course until I spot Matt. I guess it's now or never. He's hanging out with his friends, but I don't see Stefan. Hmm. I walk up to him and say, " Hey Matt, can we talk?" " I'm actually kind of busy right now Elena can we talk later?" Matt Says. That's it. " No Matt there is no later." He looks a bit serious now, then he directs us to a corner. "What did you wanna talk about?" He says standing at least two feet away from me. "I don't think this is gonna work out Matt." I say. And he doesn't look too shocked. It takes him a minute before he replies with, " Are you breaking up with me?"  "Yeah." "Ummm ok" He says. "Look Matt I didn't wanna... wait what?!" I say surprised. "I'm fine with that. Because to be honest we were better as friends. No offense." He says making me smile. "It's fine, I hope we can still be friends." I say. And then he says before we hug each other, "Of course Elena. Oh and if you haven't noticed I think one of my friends has a little crush on you." I was actually shocked by what he told me. "What's his name Matty?" I ask. "Well, I still am his friend so can't really tell you. But I'll see you around." Matt Says before he leaves.

Present
Still Elena's POV:
That really had me thinking on who likes me. I would hope it's... It can't be Stefan. He can't just be MINE. Mainly because he's a friend of Matt's. But it's whatever I'll find out sooner or later. *Ding ding ding* There goes the bell for lunch.

I walk out of class and head to the cafeteria. When I got there I decided to sit by myself instead of with my friends because I wanted to be alone. I finally got to a table half empty when I hear, "Ayyyyeeee STEFAN!!" He walks over to his friends. I sit down and start staring at him. I like his hairstyle and his jawline is sharp. And his eyes, don't even get me started with his beautiful green eyes. He turns sideways and I look at his lips. I hope some day  we could get together. He starts to look over here so I look down and decided to eat. A little while later someone said, "Hey stranger." I knew who it was. He sounded a bit cautious, and it's probably because of how I'm sitting alone. Oh Stefan. "Well, hello there Mr. Superstar. How have you been?" He smiles and replies with, "I'm fine thank you, and you?" "I'm great I got you to keep me company." I say with a big grin. Then it's wiped off instantly by his following words. "So I heard about the break up..." "uh yeah we just weren't meant to be gf and bf, but we decided to stay as friends." I say honestly. "That's great; well you got any other boys in mind?" He asks jokingly. Curiosity hits me as to why he's asking this question nevertheless I answered. "Actually yeah. He has these beautiful green emerald eyes, sharp jawline, and has perfect hair." I said knowing fully I was describing him. And looked into those eyes the ones I now favor. "Oh, I hope y'all get together." He says and for some reason it looks like he didn't mean it but I denied that fact and said, "Me too." In all honesty I wanted nothing more then to get with him. All of a sudden he asked me a question in a joking manner but seemingly serious. "You know what Elena? Would you like to be my ... Best Friend Forever. Basically my BFF." After just staring at each other and admiring the others features we burst out laughing and then I answer. "I would love to be your bff, Mr. Salvatore." He gets up and says, "Come here." Directing into a hug. The second we touch each other I feel something on my insides jump in happiness and maybe it's just a way of saying we're gonna get along well. We stood for a minute after he gives me a kiss on the head and backs away looking into my eyes. Again we just stood there for a few minutes just staring. Then I broke the eye contact because the bell rang. "I'll see you later." I say while tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. "You bet." He says and before he left he leaves a kiss on my cheek that causes me to blush. We wave at each other then go separate ways. "So Stefan Salvatore huh?" Out comes Caroline smirking. "We're just friends. Actually Best Friends for like... ever." "Ohkay... like nobody saw those admiring stares" She Said. I look down blushing. After a while we dismissed the subject and went on with our day.
