Sophmore year

Third Person POV:

Sophomores. Middle years of high school. Stefan and Elena has started going out to small get together of the school.

Night before party...

Stefan and Elena got into an argument about how she barely knows him. It was a first to them. Not laughing and having fun but fighting.

"I DON'T KNOW A LOT ABOUT YOU!!" She yelled while they were in the parking lot of the theaters.

"What are you talking about love?" He genuinely was confused because they never had a problem and he doesn't know where the sudden outburst came from. "We've spent the last year together and you gotta know something." He said "you cannot stand here and say that!!!" He looks like he realizes what's going on.

"I don't know Stef. I mean I know I like you. I just don't want to get played again. And with Matt it was easier because I didn't like him, but with you I can't even imagine you leaving." She concludes looking to the ground with tears coming down her face.

Stefan steps closer and puts a finger under her chin to make her look up. " who said I was going to leave?" He ends and leans in to kiss her.

Only to have her pull away. "I think I need some space for a little bit. Stefan I'm sor—" She gets cut off immediately.

"Please don't say it. Don't please." He begs her.

"Stefan I just want a break. Just a few days and we could get back together." She concludes and looks at him waiting for his answer. He looks sad. She can't believe it herself. It was her fault for making him sad. After a few minutes of staring Stefan says something.

"Let's get you home." And before she could reply he had already left to call her parents.

Night of the party

Elena's POV:

I can't believe it. We're on a break giving each other space. I don't know why I'm surprised when I wanted or needed it? He would usually call or text me goodnight and I would sleep peacefully. Anyways I'm going to the woods party tonight.

I was picked up by some friends a few hours age now it's around 10. And only a few are still here dancing having fun. I haven't seen Stefan here. I was told he was coming. And I've been looking for him without even noticing myself. We got a few drinks in and then my friends and I started dancing. Next thing I know we're playing truth or dare and we've been playing for over 20 minutes. It was the last dare before we were going home that I didn't think would change a lot for me.

A ginger headed girl stood up and said, "Elena I dare you to kiss Tyler..." I wasn't okay with this. At least it's not on the li- "...on the lips." Tyler and I stood up real fast now it's getting awkward. "For five seconds."

"Heeelllllll no bro. First of I got a gf whom is currently not here and second Elena's dating my best friend soooo no." Said Tyler

We tried to sit down but she continues, " didn't you hear? They broke up." I looked at her shocked.

"Actually we're on a break." I jump in. "Same thing. Just do it." She said. I looked at Tyler and said "let's get this over with." I lean in for a peck and I hear people cheering loudly but the sound is mainly from the background and not our friends that are huddling around us. Maybe they're dancing. As the cheering continue we're already sat on the same log. Right when my lips touch his, all I hear is, "Stefan u made it."

Stefan's POV:

I decided to go out. Ok maybe not decided since I was being dragged by Klaus. He picked me up. And we're at the party in minutes. Right when people start to notice us they cheer and smiled loudly. I smiled back gently when Klaus saw our friends whom were looking at two people for some reason.

As we get close the two peoples lips collide and everyone cheers and I smile when somebody says while I'm brightly smiling, "Stefan u made it." The two broke away real fast as to not believing I was here. Everyone around me was just staring.. at me. When the guy looks up it's Tyler when the girl hangs her head low. I was happily gonna greet him, until the girl turned around and my smile quickly drops because it's... "Elena?" My heart. Why does it hurt like this?

I must of said that out loud because she looks at me surprised then turns into quick realization as to what I'm seeing and gets up. "Stefan I can explain." She's coming closer to me when I stop her. "Please don't come any closer." I'm about to cry?!! Really?!!! Before she could even reply I turn and start running, sprinting really. Instead of heading out I go through the woods because they're chasing me and calling me. This can't be happening. No pleaaaSsseee. I hide behind a tree when I hear  Elena sobbing while calling me out. I can't help but let a few tears slip down my cheek.

Elena's POV:

How could I have let this happen? The girls come running towards me. "Elena you guys broke up cause he wanted too don't feel bad." That only makes me feel worse. "I wanted the break not him." I look up and they all have a shocking expression on their faces.

We've been looking for him for half an hour now. 'I'm sorry. I'm sooo sorry Stef. I didn't mean to. I'm sorry. Please come back to me.' We decided to leave. I was getting mad because there was no way I was gonna leave him here by himself. But then Klaus said he was going to wait because Stef came with him. I agreed and decided I wanted to stay when Klaus said, "umm Elena I think it's a good idea if you leave with them. And just give him time for now." I slowly start crying. Getting in the car and completely breaking down. I'm sooo stupid. The only guy who actually cares about me is the one I'm hurting.

Klaus' POV:

"Stefaaaannn! Where you at bro? It's just me you and a few stoners. It's time to go." I've been calling him since they left and it been 10 minutes. I round the corner and see him sitting against a tree with his head in his hands. "Hey bro lets go home already. I'll even sleepover. Let's go." When I get closer he lifts his head. "You're a mess man. C'mon let's get out of here." I help him up.

"I like her so much Klaus." He sniffed while talking and it makes me sad seeing my best friend like this. "I didn't know Ty was capable of doing this to me!" He lets out and angers because it's true. Who would've known he was like that? He's supposed to be watching her like a lil sister because of the bro-code. " Don't worry about that right now let's just get home and have some fun. Aight?" I Said he looks up and gives me a sad smile. "Thanks for being a good friend Klaus."

We say nothing more on the way but jam to the music that's all the way up. When we got to his house we watched toy story and a few kids movie. I looked over and he's asleep. I feel bad honestly. Stef is a great person who doesn't deserve this. But I can't do anything to help. We'll just see what will happen.
