Becoming Popular

Third Person POV:
It's been a month since school have started and Stefan fitted in quickly he was already very good friends with Klaus, Tyler, and Matt. Stefan was somehow still single. Elena was dating Matt and Caroline is dating Tyler not knowing Klaus has a bit of a crush on her. All four boys joined the football team including Klaus' older brother Elijah who is now a sophomore. They have had trainings every day. So they are bever really available for weekday plans. They are all on the varsity team and Matt is the back-up quarterback, while Stefan was the wide receiver and running back. Klaus and Tyler were both on the starting defense team.

The boys had practice today. And it was a Friday meaning they had an extra hour to stay back. They have their first game tomorrow.
It was the last period of the day and Stefan was heading towards the locker rooms. It was down the halls, outside the back doors and in the next building. As he was walking somebody bumps into him causing everything they were holding to fall on the ground. He helped her pick up her things. Stefan looks up and it's ... "Hey Lena."

Elena's POV:
I just got out of photography class and I have my hands full with pictures that the teacher asked me I'm heading to the gym because we have cheerleading practice. But first I have to get these to the office. As I turned in the hall I bumped into someone. Everything drops onto the floor. Ughhhhh. I hurriedly pick them up and the person crouches down to help me which I thought was really sweet. We both stood up and I was still trying to organize the pictures, but was until I heard him. "Hey Lena." It was Stefan. I can't lie and say I never thought he was cute. Because we all know those were my exact thoughts when he got off that plane which was when I first saw him. But nevertheless we became very close friends to the point where I can call him my best friend. "Hey Stefano. I'm sorry I bumped into you. Where are you heading anyways?" I asked. "I have football practice. Ummm I'm sorry I have to cut this short I can't be late to training since the first game is tomorrow. But I'll see you around Elena." He says waving while leaving. "Bye Stefan!" I say. Then I start walking towards the office to drop off the pictures. After that I go to the girls locker room and change for cheer practice.

We're having our trainings outside next to the football. We just took a five minute break, so I decided to go watch the boys play football. "Salvatore you're in." Coach says to Stefan. I didn't even know freshman's were playing in varsity. I see Matt talking to other girls from the school, but at this point I'm really used to it. After the team breaks out of the huddle Stefan stands on the far left looking in front of him. "Hike!!" The ball goes to someone behind and the next thing I know it was up in the air and back down into Stefan's hands. He runs for the score and makes a goal or is it called a touchdown? Either way they cheered him on and kept practicing. I stood there watching him for a few minutes then walked towards the girls. I couldn't stop thinking of how cute Stefan was. I mean I always knew how handsome he was but ever since what happened last week I've had a little crush on him. Last week was also the reason Matt and I are going through so much. But we'll get through it. Sometimes I wonder if I actually still wanna deal with Matt. Do I still wanna be with him?

Stefan's POV:
I saw Lena watching us earlier and many of her other friends. And for some reason I wanted to show off while she was looking. Football is done for the day and we're all in the locker room changing. After at least 10 minutes of gathering all my stuff I walk out with my shirt on and noticed all the players were shirtless. Nevertheless I kept walking cause I see my dad. But that was of course until I hear someone calling. "Stefan!" It was Klaus. "Sup bro? I was just gonna leave." I say. He replies with, "We're having an after party for the game at my place. You're invited if you want." "We'll see man." I get into the car and greet my dad and we head home. I never stopped thinking about Elena especially after last week. We've gotten closer since.

(Still Stefan's POV:)
Last week:
It's been two weeks of school and I'm having so much fun in high school, that is because of my friends and football of course. I was walking back from the gym to the school. This was a little bit after six period and I had to ask Ms. Stevenson, my math teacher, a question before she had to leave. As I was walking in through the main doors and one of the school hallways I hear soft cries coming from the janitors room and nobody was around. So I knocked a bit and heard gasps and small sniffles which I oddly thought were cute. When she opened the door I couldn't believe who it was. "Hey, Stefan." She says. Elena. Her eyes were bloodshot. I couldn't help, but feel anger. "Elena? What happened? Why are you crying?" I ask. She looks like she's about to cry again so I pull her into me for a hug. Which I felt weird tingling vibrations go through me. Her heart rate was slowing down. "Elena? Please tell me what happened to you." "I really don't wanna talk about it." She says sadly. "Come on let's get out of here." I pull her with me then she asked me about "...your practices?" Without a doubt I told her not to worry about it. Because for some reason I felt responsible with what happens to her now.
We make it to her moms car that was waiting out here for more then 15 mins.  Before she leaves I pull her in for another hug and then for some reason I kissed the top of her head. But it wasn't weird nor was it awkward. "Take care of yourself please and you can tell me what happened next time I see yah okay??" I say. All of sudden she blurts out... " Matt kissed Caroline and then lied about it when I confronted him about it."  She says then gets in the car and they drive off. I honestly feel bad for her. I've actually been thinking of what could happen if she broke up with Matt. I want her to be treated right. And I've also thought a lot about a few things. If only she could be... MINE.

Next day
Third Person POV:
It's game day and Stefan is preparing with his teammates and because he was one of the freshman's out of the many seniors, juniors, and sophomores on the varsity team, he had to get his head in the game. He was somehow distracted with his own thoughts about her. Elena. How cute and pretty she is. The way she smells with that strawberry-vanilla perfume. And how she... "OH MY GOD. I have a crush on my best friends girlfriend". Stefan thought. Hurriedly he gets up and puts on his pads and all his gear and finally putting his jersey on over his head. He starts to walk out when he bumps into the person that made him feel even more guilty. Matt. They just exchanged friendly smiles and say good luck playing and went separate ways again.

Meanwhile Elena is at the canteen buying hot dogs, chips, and drinks. She came with Caroline and Hayley. She forgave Caroline for kissing Matt cause she explained how it was only a dare. As for Matt that's just giving Elena trust issues. But in all honesty she can't say she feels hurt. They've been dating since last year but knowN each other since they were in diapers.

They sat with the band in the middle of the stand with most students from the school. They weren't cheering today because senior cheerleaders are starting of the football season with just them.

After about thirty minutes of waiting they start naming the teams as they ran out of the locker rooms. "And the team who owns the turf. Here is the TIMBERWOLVES!!!"

Elena's POV:
The night is cold and we're screaming loudly and happily at the football team. They call out the quarterbacks from each team along with the captains and co-captains. From our school I see someone with the number 17 steps out of the line they were in. When he took his helmet off I couldn't believe who it was. I mean I new he was on the schools football team I just thought it was the JV no offense to him. Stefan. Of course Stefan was the wide receiver  I've seen him play in PE.

They break off and then they announce the other team is going first. "The Spartans are receiving." (The Spartans is the other team if it isn't obvious enough🤣)

It's the last quarter of the game and they are tied. They're going to have to go in overtime if nobody gains a point before the quarter ends. All the players get in formation and crouch down a lil bit. Stefan was one of the receivers. I started to look for Matt when I see him talking to the cheerleaders that are now seniors in the school. I see him touch one of the girls face and kiss her on the lips. I didn't react much. So I turned back to watch Stefan play.

They hike the ball the quarterback gets and now he's running around trying to dodge the defense players. He chucks the ball and it's heading towards the end zone, considering the fact that they were at the 50 yard line. The ball is in the air when I look down onto the field Stefan is wide open at 5 yard line with no one blocking him. Everyone were on their feet cheering him on. "Stefan! Stefan! Stefan!" I along everybody else cheer. 4 seconds. The ball was getting closer to him. 3 seconds. Then he jumps having himself reach the ball and catch it with one hand and make the touchdown just in time for the buzzer to go off. All of the players run towards him carrying him up on their shoulders. Then I thought about how I really like him. I've made my decision. I'm going to talk to Stefan, some day at least.

Next day at school:
Third Person POV:
Stefan is heading to school on what he thought was going to be a normal day. That all changed when he walked on campus everyone was cheering him on. He makes his way Over to his best friend Klaus and his other friends. "What's up, bro." Says Klaus doing their handshake that took a minute before he said hi to everyone else. "Bro we're apart of the popular and cool kids now." Says Matt. Stefan was excited to be in the group.
