Two days later

Stefans POV:

*beep beep beep be-

I turn over and turned off my alarm. I roll over and stair at the ceiling. I'm suppose to go talk to Bonnie today. Damon told me she wanted to "have a word" with me. Usually I'm calm and I can keep myself together, but Bonnie is a very straightforward type of person. I mean I always knew that, but I feel like she wasn't mean to me because I was dating Elena and she was dating Damon. I should probably get up and eat some breakfast before I leave. Today's a good day.

Bonnies POV:

"Is he on his way yet?" I asked Elena. "Please Bon, don't say too much. And please don't bring up the past." Hmmm. I knew she was gonna say that. "I know. I just wanted to catch up. But I have a question are you two...you know, back together?"
She laughs loudly. "What? No! Of course not! We just work together that's all." She said in one breath. "Mmmhhmm. You better not be. He's hurt you more than any other boy has. Don't you remember? I've watched you go through depre-." "Oukay Bon I get it. He cheated on me. But we're both trying to move on. We have a professional....platonic friendship." She said. But I could head the hesitation. "That's what they all say!" I exclaimed. This boy better not try and get back with her. "Bonn-."

*ding dong*

"Oh no! He's here already. 10 minutes early." She said nervously. Usually I'd be giggling, but just looking at how nervous she is and how her body reacts to him being near, worries me. "I'll go get it." I said before walking to the door. But then Damon beats me to it. I see Stefan give him a big smile and then hugged. I'm actually really glad they've made up. Now we're just gonna have some brunch and let Stefan play with Briana. But after that I'm gonna y'all with him.

Stefans POV:

"Wow the inside of your house is beautiful Elena." I said as were eating. She looks over to me and smiles. I'm getting more nervous by the minute. Bonnie hasn't said more than five words since I got here. Damon and I continue with small talk while playing with Briana, as Bonnie and Elena wash the dishes. "I'm scared of your wife bro." I said to him seriously, but he chuckles. "It's just Bonnie Stefan. You'll be fine." We go back to playing nicely. I check the time and it's already past 4. I was about to say something before Elena and Bonnie walked out. "A word Stefan?" And we're getting straight to it. I nodded and she walked back into the kitchen. I look over at Elena and she's encouraging me to go with that smile of hers. I don't think it's going to be a quiet meeting so I turn back to Damon, "why don't you take Briana out for some ice cream?" He chuckles. "Actually our cousin Carson and his wife will be here in a minute to pick her up for a play date with their daughter. I forgot they moved here last year." He said surprising me. "That guys married?! And has a kid?!! Aah I gotta go she's waiting for me." He nods in understanding. I walk to the kitchen and she's just sitting on the dining room chair. Silently. I take a seat. And we're now sitting across from each other. We don't say a word to each other for the next 5 min. And within that time frame we heard Briana leave. And then she starts talking. "So how've you been Stefan?" She asked. "I- I um I'm doing fine thank you. An- and yourself?" Get yourself together man! "Well let's here..." I knew it. "...I come to visit my sister who moved out to start her independent life, but I find you here, her EX boyfriend." She said with wide angry eyes.

"Ahaha yeah. I know I'm her ex. But she works at my company no-." She scoffs. "Your company huh? What are you an employer? What is it? That's not the point. No offense, but last I remember you ran away from home, from your problems, and you left your family behind for a gang and left Elena after you cheated on her!" She kept listing untrue things. I get angry. Not by her, but by what she's saying. "I don't want you around her no more." She whispers sharply. "I didn't do anything wrong." I stated. I guess this it. "Stefan. Stefan. Elena told us you cheated and then you zoomed of with a gang after one week and I d-." Before she could finish what she said Elena and Damon both walked in. "What's going on?" Damon asked. And Bonnie laughs. "Really, Damon? Did y'all really think I was gonna forget what he did to her?" I can't blame Bonnie. She's just looking out for Elena. "Ok hun. Let's be adults here and talk through this." Damon said calmly, but she wasn't having it. "No, he didn't see what she went through when he chea-." I cut her off. Because I'm getting upset and annoyed. "I didn't cheat!" This makes Elena looks at me with wide eyes. "What are you talking about Stefan?! I saw you that day remember? You and Caroline were at the diner early in the morning." I can tell she's getting mad quick. Just tell her Stefan! It's about time! "Elena I didn't cheat on you." I said softly. She walks over and stood right in front of me. And then she slaps me. "Do you think I'm blind?! Huh? I saw what I saw Stefan. And you didn't even apologize. Please quit lying." And something in me just snaps.  "I DIDNT CHEAT ON YOU!! HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TELL YOU GUYS?!!"  They all give me a mixture of surprise and confused look. Damon butts in, "brother calm down." I took a deep breath and exhaled. "WHY ARE YOU LYING STE-." I cut her off. And replied softly, but desperately.

"What did you see Elena huh? Was I kissing her? Was I too affectionate? Don't you wonder how and why Klaus and Caroline are together now? Surely Klaus oughtta be mad at me, but he ain't. You know why? Because I didn't do anything with Caroline." I said truthfully. "Then what the heck were you doing with her there in the morning?! Just a casual breakfast with a friend? I don't think so." She's furious now. But behind it all I can see the hurt in her eyes. "WHAT WERE YOU DOING STEFAN?!" I-

Elenas POV:

I can't believe him. He really tried lying when I'm right here. "I- I was just...we were..." he stutters. "WHAT STEFAN?! ARE YOU STUTTERING CAUSE YOURE TRYNA FIGURE OUT WHAT TO SAY?! WHAT LIES ARE YOU GONNA SAY NOW?!" I'm screaming and yelling at him. I look at Bonnie and she gives me a proud smirk. Then Damon nudged her. I'm finally gonna get some shxt off my mind today. But what he said next totally caught us off guard. "Caroline and I... we were trying to...we were planning a surprise party for your 18th birthday."

December 8, 2010.
10:32pm.

Stefans POV:

Elenas been asleep for a while now. I get up and off the bed and go into the bathroom. I shut the door quietly and then I sat on the toilet texting Caroline about a surprise birthday party for Elena. Elenas birthday is about a month away and I know Caroline is the best at planning these things. But of course I let Klaus know what was going on and he was in on it. It didn't take long before we agreed to meet at the diner in the morning. I flush the bathroom and walk out. I get back on the bed, but before I turned the lamp light off. I took a real good look at Elena. Gosh. She gets prettier and more beautiful everyday. I love this girl with all my heart and soul. And I promise to keep her from harms way. And to never hurt her in any way. She'll forever and always be mine in my heart.

Present...

He explained how everything happened and then looked at his shoes. Bonnie, Damon, and I stood there. Shocked at what he revealed. When? Oh My G- Bonnie was the first to say something. "Stefan. I- I'm so sorry. I really thought..."

"No no. It's ok. I'm used to it by now." He said smiling, but then a tear drop slid down his cheek. But he quickly wiped it away. "I should uh I should get going." He starts walking across the room. "Bro. Wait!" Damon said. And follows him into the living room. Leaving Bonnie looking at each other. What just happened? I run out to the living room. And him and Damon were there. But as soon as Stefan sees me. He tries to walk out the door. "Stefan wait! Please wait!" I run after him and grab his wrist. But he doesn't look at me. "Stefan please. I- I thought you che-." He whips his head back and looks at me dead in the eyes. He's...crying? I really hurt him. "Do you really think I'd hurt you like that? Did you really think I'd leave you so easily for someone else?! I confessed my love for you. I made love to you. You were my first for a lot of things. Obviously that's not something a person can just forget overnight!!" He said almost choking on his words. I try to reach for his face. But he grabs my hands. "Why didn't you tell me Stefan?" I asked while tears start to flow down my eyes. He laughs, but not the happy laugh. "Don't you think I tried? I got in my car that day and followed you home. I tried to explain it to you. But you locked the doors. I tried so hard. For a week straight I sat in my car in front of your house like a creep. But then..." he suddenly stops talking completely and looks away. Bonnie takes interest. "What happened Stefan?" But Stefan doesn't answer her question. "I need to go." I hold him back. I hug him from behind and wrap my arms tightly around him. "Wait please. I'm sorry. I'm sorry please." He manages to remove my hands. "If none of you did anything wrong then why aren't you rekindling that fir-." Damon tries to lighten up the situation but Stefan cuts him off. "Y'all have a nice day." He walks away again. I try to reach for him but Bonnie pulls me back. He successfully made it out the door. Leaving me here, crushed.

Why?! Why did I do it? No! He doesn't get to leave like this! I sprint out the door and catch up to him. I hear them both follow me.
