Present...

Elenas POV:

But why was he hospitalized? What happened? How did he even "So you're telling me that you got kicked out, and you didn't runaway?" He looked up and I see his pain. After the break up, I thought Stefan was having fun. I thought he wasn't going to have a hard time. But I wasn't thinking about the possibilities of him having to go through that. Alone. "Yes. But I'd like to forget about it now. And move on." He said. Ask him Elena! "Why were you in the hospital Stefan?" I asked calmly he turned his neck and look like he was about to pop off, but he took a deep breath and smirked at me. "Now now Elena, you do realize that you're spending more time with me than necessary." He said probably thinking I was gonna be agree with him. "I've taken into consideration what I said at the interview and I only said that because I still highly disliked you then and didn't think we were ever going to be friends again. And then I remembered what happened and what I did 10 years ago and I actually have no right to be pissed at you." I said calmly. He doesn't look surprised at all. There was a moment of silence where we just kept looking into each other others eyes. "I think you should head home already it's getting late." He said. It's already 9pm. "Yea let's go." We both get up. I head towards the door and he grabbed the keys that were on the counter. He walks out and locks the door. Before we had the chance to hop in the car his neighbor said hi. "Hi Ipo!" Stefan looks at her and actually smiles. The realest smile I've seen since the first time I saw him again. "Hey Nana! Howzit?" He replied walking towards her. What does that mean? "Nothing. Aye can you go foa da kine and get me da kine?" What is she talking about? "Which da kine?" Stefan said. Wha- "Any kine." "Shoots." Stefan said as we walk to the passenger door.
"Where are you going?" He looks over his shoulder and smiles. "You forgot huh?" I look at him confused. "When you're with me chilvary ain't dead." Then he opens up my door. Of course. I don't remember the last time someone opened my door for me. I playfully rolled my eyes and hopped in. We back up up carefully and then we start driving. "So who's that old lady?" I asked. "Oh. Just a friendly neighbor."He said. What were they saying? "What were you guys saying? I mean the words were...different?" He starts laughing. "Yea it's called Pidgin English. She asked me to buy her a scratch card from the store." We both laugh it out and talk about a few deals.
We finally made it to my house. And he hops out and gets my door again. "Thank you." I said politely. He smiles and I actually smiled back what I felt was a real smile. "No problem. I'll see you later." He said walking towards his car again. I turn to the door and start to unlock it. "Oh Elena! I almost forgot." Stefan said. I turn back around. "Please let Damon know to come over to my house tomorrow at noon. We have to talk things out." He sighs. "Will do." Again he turns hops in the car and drives away. Something I don't like watching him do. Watching him leave. I've been trying to convince myself that I only took the job because the money. But I know that's a lie.

The day after...

Stefans POV:

It's a little bit past noon now and Damon and I have been talking for a while now. I had to hear him out. And decided to try and move past what happened that night. Now we're trying to talk normally, like how we used to. "So man. What's with you and Elena?" He smirks. "Your dumb. She's just an agent of mine." I chuckled but he gave me a look of confusion. "What do you mean she just an agent of yours? Are you...the founder she's been talking about?!!" He asked with wide eyes. I nod. "Wow! You've accomplished big things. Obviously. I just wish I would've been there with you." He said sincerely and sadly. "Yea. You still drink?" I looked at him curiously. "No. I stopped a few years back. You?" "I stopped senior year." I said with memories flooding back from that dreadful year. We go on to talk about a few things until I had to drop him off. And when we got to their house we both hopped out the car. And for the first time in a decade I gave my big brother a hug. And luckily it's dark out because I started crying. And I hear him start crying too. "Ssshh. It's okay Stefan. Big brother is here. I won't leave you again." (I suggest you listen to Hold On by Chord Overstreet while reading that line)We stood there for a few more seconds and then we said goodbye and I got in my car and drove off. And it's like a part of the weight has been lifted from my shoulders.
